I don't think that's the way to unlock your bootloader... You have to go to the Motorola website and enter the code and they'll send you an unlock code.
Then you have to type

Code:
$ fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY
UNIQUE_KEY is replaced by the code they sent you.

Press thanks of I helped you.

I DID. According to the screenshot, you didn't write $ at the beginning. Also, you wrote (unlock code) instead of the code you received per email. Please study your own screenshots before posting.

Sorry for double-post:
BTW,
Code:
(bootloader) unlock code= (whatever you typed)
Is definitely not the command for unlocking your bootloader.

I'm talking about the first command(first screenshot) man!!!! The second one is completely wrong!! If you wanna unlock your bootloader, then go to the Motorola site and copy THE WHOLE COMMAND. BTW I'm not a noob I'm a senior member lol

take a look post by olovierM in motorola forum.
they say "@retrofan, @Xorg,

We have identified the issue causing the "incorrect password" error on some 4.4.4 devices, and we are looking at the simples way to provide a fix. I will follow up with an update here as soon as I can. Your patience is appreciated !"

solution pwd incorrect 4.4.4

sorry for being late but recently I was trying to unlock my moto g boot loader and ended up here because I faced:
Code:
(bootloader) Password incorrect!
(bootloader) OEM unlock failure!
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.256s
so thanks to Wendy_W from Motorola forums I have succesfully unlocked my moto g following his instructions in this post:
Code:
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/f2061da875
it seems there was such a problem when unlocking bootloader at moto g 4.4.4 kitkat... so they released a fix img to make it possible... so according to them:
If you are on a Moto G on 4.4.4 and encounter the 'password incorrect' error, please:
Download this ZIP file
Code:
https://forums.motorola.com/files/51c3cbf839/G_4.4.4.BL_Fix.zip
and follow the instructions in the ZIP file. This only applies to users for Moto G , first generation, on 4.4.4. Please do not try these steps on a Moto G 4G LTE, or second generation G.
If your device is still on 4.4.3, please wait until the 4.4.4 upgrade before attempting this - thanks
this worked for me so I decided to share with you
thanks for the infos in this thread!!!

thanks guys bootloader is unlocked on 4.4.4. im facing another problem , custom recovery CWM or TWRP non of them r booting after installation instead the phone is rebooting or blank screen plz help guys

hate reviving dead thread, but ive done the fix img flash via fastboot posted by moto, and unlock key finally was accepted, but BL is STILL secure, NOT unlocked.

would i have better luck just going ahead and updating to 5.1 first?
i have a falcon xt1031
it's shown as unlockable using this fix mentioned above, just cannot find any info on AFTER updating to 5.1 so im holding off for now.

apologies for the necro here, just one of the top threads to show in my search for fix.
