rom manager

It seems everything I do (I'm a nubee) I try all of these long drawn out processes that fail, then I find the post that makes it too easy. Bless you. I could not flash my saved roms from my revoked root, and now I can

Fantastic

This is brilliant... You can basically get out of just about any root/boot/system problem thanks to this fix because you no longer have to worry about PC/driver communication issues that so many people have been having when they try to upgrade. I gave it a go now (as I happened to be doing a data wipe/factory reset) and it worked for me.

It worked!

Just when I was stuck in a boot loop trying to install the CM6.1.

For those who downloaded from the link above, please make sure that the MD5Sum checks out to be this:

b98157d802078780b10c175dc0389fd9
I couldn't get it to work with the error below because I got it from another link I believe.
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.

Nice ;) Glad it worked out for you
I'm not having any such luck. Picked up a Legend yesterday, and am having no joy getting into recovery mode.

I'm sure I've got the right version...

Code:
[email protected]:/mnt# mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb/
[email protected]:/mnt# md5sum < /mnt/usb/update.zip
b98157d802078780b10c175dc0389fd9 -
But it gripes about
Code:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Factors that may be worth observing...
  • HCODE version 0.43
  • Not sure where the "version 1.31" comes from, which often gets referenced.
  • Firmware 2-1-update1
  • Kernel 2.6.29
  • Build number 2.0.2.666.3 CL177708 release-keys
  • Software number 2.02.666.3
  • I have been temporary rooting using Universal Androot v1.6.2 beta. It's enough to get Titanium Backup working. If I ask for "permanent root" it seems to like to reboot my phone. So I'm possibly not rooted enough ;-).

Hi fellas !

Just wanted to ask something to you guys... What exactly Fake-Flash does ?

I read the first post and it says "allows you to launch recovery without a PC"...

But I don't need to connect my legend to access recovery, so I don't get the point ! Just boot it with vol- or launch clockworkmod from ROMmanager...

Anyone to explain me please ?

Cheers !

Fake Flash is usefull for users with S-ON only (with stock /recovery).
If you have S-OFF, then you can flash CWM directly in /recovery partition.

I don't really know if i'm S-OFF, I never did manipulations to be so. I just downgrade then root then install CM6.1, and then B 0.6.

EDIT : I've just read again what you said, I guess I got it. Is that the same process that ROM manager is operate when we use its option "flash CWM recovery"?

For some reason, ClockworkMod Recovery just disappeared for me. Luckily, i have heard about this fake-flash thing you could use when you saw this scary red exclamation mark, which brought me to this tread.

Unluckily, this thread doesn't seem to give me any help. The recommended install method - Flashing from ROM Manager, doesn't work. Unless i'm doing something wrong. After I press the install button and then confirm my phone model, it says that the latest version is downloaded. Is there a next step i'm missing?

And I can't follow the instructions on the first page, since the download link isn't working..

Can someone give me a helping hand?

Edit: Installed the CWM 3.0.0.6 update from the other thread, and now it seems to work. Well, launching CWM 2.5.0.7 from rom manager atleast. I don't get this. :p
