You must use a systemless Xposed installation.

Sent from my Motorola XT1575 using XDA Labs

Regarding external micro-SD storage, I can confirm, using both the stock 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 firmwares, and on every 5.1.1 to 7.1.1 custom ROM I've used, a 200GB Samsung Micro-SD card works flawlessly for external storage, formatted with the FAT32 standard.

I have a common problem in all ROMs I'm installing . whenever I answer a call or dial a call my screen goes off as if proximity sensor is activated and doesn't turn on even when I take it away from my ear or press my power button. Screen doesn't turn on at all during call.

Phone remains fine for a day or two after I wipe cache etc from recovery but again the problem starts. This happens in all custom roms and also in rooted stock ROM. My device is MOTO G3 XT 1550

Kindly suggest any solution as it causes lot of inconvenience.

What Kernel are you using? You are describing a common bug which occurs in at least a couple of different Moto devices, and on several variants of the devices. The proximity sensor puts the screen to sleep during a call, as you pointed out. The bug prevents the screen from awakening upon termination of the voice call. Check also and see if you have MotorolaSensorServices.apk installed on your device. This app claims to be the keep for the proximity sensor drivers, as well as other sensor drivers, and also purportedly keeps those drivers up to data. I do know your device will run without this .apk; however, installing it has been reported to fix the perpetually sleeping screen bug rendered during voice calls. Here is a current version of the apk. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7-zQU1VihD3Wk56eE5DUEcwMHc/view?usp=drivesdk

This is very interesting, I haven't come across this problem before. I'll try to do a bit more research into it so I can put it in the main FAQ if it is a common issue. Any resources you can point me to?

Seems that I have read a post or two here on XDA regarding this bug. I am thinking maybe it was discussed under custom ROM development. I'll see what I can find resource wise.

Here's a report of a very similar issue on the Moto G4. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/call-proximity-sensor-bug-t3413743
And the Motorola Nexus 6 had a multitude of reports also on the bug.
There were several reports that stock Android 5.1 builds were responsible for the bug, not a defect in Moto's hardware or drivers.

I am facing hotspot error in my xt1557 whenever I switch on hotspot and data togerher . How can I solve it?
Try going to Developer Options and selecting "Cellular Data Always Active" and see if that solves the error. Are you using stock ROM and if so what build. If not stock, which custom ROM are you using? Are you using a custom kernel and, if so, which one?

The ROM you are using was ported from a soak test build for Moto X play, so it's expected to have some errors. Try flashing a custom kernel like Squid or Fire kernel. It should solve the hotspot error. Or else just try a different ROM.

Please don't double or triple post... These forums get sufficient traffic that you will generally get an answer within half a day to a day from a single post, provided there is an answer
