You got the point! ;)
They prob moved to another GIT so ppl dont get the the phone dead because some1 want some atention on forums.
Sad, but i agree, devs need some time to work on kernel before general public can use it, no1 want to be the "guy who bricked lots of phones"
We say, "- dont do that unless you know what are you doing" general ppl read "- go ahead and hit me if something goes wrong".

You notice that direct links to the kernel and builds with the kernel disappear shortly after but my guides stay. Just think about that.
That could also be because your threads/methods/scripts are really just borderline, not offensive enough to be removed but not far from it. Think "barely legal". And don't think the team was ever okay with you making those threads. I believe they were at best just tolerating it. Not like they had much choice really. Instead of asking for their agreement for publishing this information, you pretty much brought them to a done deal... What they were doing is just damage control.

Also, I think you have some serious misconceptions about open source, what it is and how it works. First, it does not necessarily include open communication - it only refers to the end product. The team has no obligation to keep anyone informed about the progress and the open-source nature of the project is by no means violated if they choose to keep silent. Second, while GPL technically (and legally) allows you to take their source code and do with it almost whatever you want (heck, you can even rename it and call it your own), so long as you give proper credit and make the source code publicly accessible, there's a big difference between what is allowed and what is appropriate. Nobody really asked for "raising kernel development awareness", especially if that has the potential to compromise the whole project.

EDIT: Oh, I see the thread was cleaned again. Oops.

Thank you for being clear. I understand all the points you're making.

It would be nice to hear whether changes have been made or not, but it's not necessary.

Check your PM.

Camera

Quick question, will the new kernel update include drivers for the Video camera? I'm still disappointed that the latest CM10 video does nto work. Yes, I know I can use VideoCam Illusion, but the native cam should work (driver availability permitting)

Thanks

Floyd

This is kind of rude. The devs are doing this because they want to, not because they have to. They have no obligation to fulfill anybody's expectations. Therefore you are free to take your disappointment elsewhere (or, y'know, have your own take at building a fully working ROM if you think you can do better).

Also, this kind of questions is really unnecessary. The new kernel will include everything the devs manage to make work properly. No more, no less. At this point nobody knows what that exactly is or will be, so no point in asking. You might as well look at the crystal ball for answers.

Hey ravilov, sorry that you think it is rude to ask a question. And just to clarify - I am not disappointed at the Devs themselves. Rather, disappointed that a standard moble phone feature (videocam) does not work on Atrix ROMs becasue Motorola wont realease the drivers. I dont know if the new kernel development will fix this issue.

And re your point about unnecessary questions - er... surely this is a FAQ thread? This is the place for questions? If you dont know the answer to a question that is posted then that is fine, keep quiet, let someone else answer - perhaps one of the Devs. But there is no need to bitchslap a n00b like me for asking a question.

And If this repsone helped you , dont forget to click the thanks button. :)

I don't know where you have been, but the video camera works. They intentionally disabled it because it was running in the background and causing battery drain.

Nope. FAQ is not the same as Q&A. There is a discussion thread for random questions and general stuff.

Also, I wasn't answering to your question specifically (about the camera) but rather to any question of that form. "Will it support X?" "Will it have Y?" NOBODY can know that. Not even devs. The reason is simple - nobody has the power of seeing into the future (not scientifically proven anyway). All they have is plans, and like I said already, I'm sure they plan to support whatever they can and include whatever features they can. There is no sense at all to not include something that can easily be included. The only reason it won't have this or that is because it cannot be done. And like I said, nobody can know what that might be until they try...

I may be wrong but it seems that epinters cm10.1 also suffers from the camera still running in the background. I say this because I have geotag enabled in camera and when I come out of camera GPS symbol is still displayed. I'm not saying I'm right but this is what appears to happen on my atrix unless I close camera with advanced task killer. So MAYBE its a ROM issue and not related to the kernel or driver. I am not criticising anyone or thing it may just be something I'm doing wrong

I don't know but the battery life would be much worse if that were the case.

Like ravilov saids "FAQ it's not Q&A". Sure you can post questions, but, be sure first you read the main post. There is not point to make a FAQ if ppl will be posting the same questions over and over.
