I'll tell everyone, just go to the store and play with one. The specs don't look amazing but damn does this phone fly. Passed fascinated phone to wife and I'm so happy for my new toy. Like everyone said, its just a better phone all around than the fascinate.

That's not a fair request. On a forum like this, that's the guy at the Porsche dealer, KNOWING that he has a car lover in front of him, trying to tell you "just drive it, you don't have to buy it". :D

played with the tb today, its a great phone and i am so close to getting it, except for one thing... the weight.

i often keep my fascinate in my shirt breast pocket during the day, and the thunderbolt is just too heavy and clunky for my use. seems like i'll be waiting for dual core!

[T]he thunderbolt is just too heavy and clunky for my use.
I certainly wouldn't call it "clunky" (it's nice and rounded all around with a flush front and back, pretty much exactly like the Fascinate only the back sticks out a bit more) but it's definitely heavier. Now the original Droid is what I'd consider a clunky phone.

Speed wise it kills the Fascinate, no matter what rom it's running (except maybe Kaoscinate), and that's just with stock sense, just wait until CM7 is released.

The battery, for me at least, is very comparable to the Fascinate, maybe slightly worse. But it can only improve with the development of custom roms. Also, I would say by most people's standards I am a light to moderate phone user, but I was on the Fascinate too and the battery drain is still not too different so far.

Just my two-cents.

several fascinate developers have already switched. I think its much better so far. Battery is about the same for me. My TB is rooted with stock rom. Fascinate had sc 2.9 but cm7 will make the TB WAY better.

I think the TB is a great phone and all, but im going to wait for the sgs 2 to come out. Hardware and screen quality are to good for me to leave samsung.(even though there terrible with updates!!)

I feel the same way....even if Samsung sucks with updates, the SGS 2 will blow away the Thunder Brick! SAMOLED Plus is amazing! For me, the display is the most important. I've seen the tbolt and it doesn't really offer anything new except 4g and 8MP cam....and slightly faster. SGS2 ftw!

I've had two Thunderbolts and they've both had pretty bad issues with the data network constantly switching from 4G, 3G, 1X and no data at all. It is completely random and happens in many locations around Denver. There are threads from many people in all the major Android forums' Thunderbolt sections describing the same thing. Nothing pisses me off more than a device you cannot rely on, and the TB randomly losing data service or being stuck in 1X when you're in the middle of a 4G saturated city is not acceptable. Despite its other flaws, my Fascinate would NEVER do things like that. I'm about to return the TB and go back to the Fascinate over the issue. Too bad, it's a good device, and would really rock if the data connection was stable.

I'll never buy another samsung phone ever. Having great hardware with bad software is not my idea of a great phone. HTC makes superior phones that work out of the box.

Well I have to say that developers switching is not a factor in my phone selection. A LOT of geeks like to get the latest phone, and what am I going to do..."Oh, several devs left the TB for the Droid Bionic, I better switch..." on and on it goes. :D

Fascinate is a great phone, its only 6 months old, and for those of us without 4G in our area, its hard to beat.

I have to say, I got a Evo 4g for work which is pretty much the same phone as Tbolt and it kills the Fascinate. I love the way it feels in my hands more, it feels smoother and faster, and it feels like a much better quality finish phone. I am ordering one for my dad this week who is looking to dive into his first smart phone, had him playing with both and he loved the HTC alot better.

Fwiw, I came to the Fascinate from the Evo, and it is clear that they are both awesome phones. I preferred the thinner form factor of the Fascinate, but the Evo has a bigger screen. It would be my opinion that the differences between the Evo, Fascinate and Thunderbolt are not gigantic. In fact, I still prefer the Fascinate, and likely won't switch to the TB. Now, when the SF2 is available...

My take on it is this:

Where I live, there is no LTE, but where I work, there is.

The only reason I am getting the TB, is because I want to keep my unlimited data plan.

I love my Fascinate, but the reason above is enough for me to upgrade.

FYI, I got a TB from the VZ website on a 1 year contract for 230.00. They wanted 200.00 for a 2 year. No brainer, for me.

I have a corportate discount through UPS, which may have had something to do with that, though.

Yeah, if you've got access to LTE on a regular basis and want to upgrade now, the tbolt is your only choice, and its not a bad phone...so I get what your saying.
