I can confirm that this worked for me. Fast charging was not working on my Pixel running Android P, but it did work in safe mode, and after charging it for a while in safe mode i rebooted it and it fast charged regularly again.

Thank you for the tip!

So ive got the same problem. OG pixel and none of my oem bricks and cables charge. Non oem and slow charging cables and bricks work but take forever to charge. I am on the latest p beta. i recently did the boot into safe mode to recharge and the oem equipment has shown up as charging and i am currently at 75%. Im going to let it charge all the way up and then reboot to non safe mode.

one weird thing i have noticed though is that only one side of the cable is charging. not end to end cable, leaving the cable connected to the brick i plug in to the pixel and no notice of charge. i then unplug from pixel, turn the cable over and it says charging. so hopefully that gets taken care of after the safe mode nonsense.

and yes ive cleaned out the usb port on the pixel with a toothpick and cleaned the connection. so weird.

just wondering if anyone else noticed that problem also?

Fresh install with the 9.0 version and the problem persists. No idea what to do now... maybe send the charger to warranty :/

When I see the metrics in Ampere the Voltage it's 3.9V, what is the supposed value for fast charging?

I'm having the same issue - I have 4 chargers...3 official (2 that were for 6P and the one that came with Pixel) and one unofficial

The only one that works is the one that came with the Pixel. Doesn't matter if connected to the wall outlet or to a power strip. It's always the same result - the pixel charger works.

I opened a new issue after seeing it was closed. Don't know why people were still discussing betas on the tracker with the new build already out.

This has to be a common problem. My backup battery is also not showing fast charge. That makes it 4 out 5 ways of charging my phone that now cannot fast charge.

I installed Ampere - using the charger purchased on Google Store, the max mA measurement is 1060mA after waiting 1 min. Using the charger that came with the Pixel XL which does show as fast charging shows 1620mA

hello.*

i just realized my Pixel 2, after the Android P update, is not quick charging.
i powered the phone off, left it to charge for an hour, and when i turned it back on, it only went up 18%. in that one hour.

i noticed when i leave my phone powered on, it charges with Quick Charge, as it should, gong up 15'ish percent in 15 minutes.

Now I only have a problem with my charger, if I use the other charge it does fast charge... So I can assume that the problem it's within the charger...

Anyone knows if they replace only the charger?

I have the exact same problem, right after updating to Android 9 fast charger stopped working, now it takes forever. It's definitely a software problem so I'm hoping they fix it because we don't even have the option to downgrade to Android 8

The only way Google is going to take it seriously as an issue are if the following statements are true: you are using a stock charger that came with the device and not a third-party charger, and you are running the stock version of Android without modified system and haven't enabled root access. Because if you have enabled root or you're using a non-stock charger, there's no reason for them to believe it has anything to do with the code in their update.

This is not the problem here, just read man...
Everyone is using stock and original charger, they know about the problem, they just need to fix it.
