Hi!

OFFICIAL IMAGES HERE: http://www.filefactory.com/file/14mn1ui7sx0t/GPE_XT1032_KOT49H.M004_CFC.xml.zip (thanks to @daywalker04 from firmware-team and @denzel09 for shared the link)

These fastboot images are made by me using @oldblue910 dumps. So if you have anyone to say thank you, donate and others forms of thanks, this person is oldblue910 before me =).

Partitions BOOT, RECOVERY, LOGO, FSG (fsg_gpe.img) and MODEM are same as flashed on GPE devices.
Partitions FSG (fsg_intl.img) and SYSTEM was created by me. SYSTEM partition was created based on SYSTEM dump + fixed permissions+owner, timestamp, symlinks and meta-data, to appears like stock one. fsg_intl.img intends to be used by people outside USA to made phone operator works.

These images are unsigned, means that you can't fastboot oem lock with these files.

I'm saying again! If have someone to say thank you, this person is oldblue910. Without him this work wasn't possible.

Do not copy and paste '(text_inside)' part of commands. :)

fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin

Works on XT1033 too (single sim only).

I just install and everything is working properly. Start the google logo shows a padlock, I guess that refers to the bootloader is released.

Now proves install cwm and try to root.

install cwm 6.0.4.6,
to flash the superuser.zip, but can not mount the sd card
the only way to install superuser.zip, is through sideload

Hey, great job!
Is the bootloader taken from GPE device?
Have you tried to dump system partition image using dd on gpe device? It should be signed then.
And what's the difference between FSG partitions? I have X1032 from Tesco UK, I live in Poland, and I have flashed 4.4 stock from US, and modem is working pretty good, so what's the point of using 2 different FSG partitions?

No, bootloader and partition is the same version who found on GPE. The difference between FSG partitions is: on original FSG 0.tar.gz file is a real file and at least on Brazil it doesn't connect to any operator; modified one 0.tar.gz is a symlink to us retail global file.

I think its better flash modem because ota patch modem partition (/firmware). Fsg partition in fact changes how radio works.

So do you have to be rooted to do this...? I don't think so, but I just thought I'd ask...

Also if this process is done, will we get ota's as well or no?

This means that we can make a really Moto G Google version? We get the new updates and all stuff. And can sell it as a google phone. Am I right?

ok I tried to do this on my U.S. model Moto G with Bootloader locked and unrooted, After I flashed the bootloader, I got "hab check filed failed for boot, After I fashed Recovery, I got the following error message "hab check failed for the recovery. And when I flashed the system, I got the error message "invalid signed image"

I then continued through all the steps but when the phone turned back on, I still had motorola apps as if nothing changed...

Update:

I went ahead and unlocked my bootloader and finally got it installed. However, I have no service :( So I will be reverting back to Motorola 4.4.2 then reflashing the GPE files without flashing the modem files and see if that works

There's a difference between gpt.bin from unofficial and gpt.bin from official. If you flash official gpt.bin, when you try to flash 4.3 rom you will get error messages when flashing system image (sort of wrong size partition errors). So it's important to flash 4.4 not-GPE gpt.bin file to remove these errors.

Made a video on how to do this.

If anybody want this in a video format, I made how-to video on YouTube. Since I'm not allowed to post links, it's called "Convert Moto G (XT1032) to a Google Play Edition" by Manley Evangelista

isn't that the same thing as the OP or is there something different?

It's the official, *signed* factory image from Motorola themselves. What the OP posted was a dump of an image from a phone and is not signed/encrypted, which means that your bootloader must be unlocked in order to use it.

The hope is that owners of non-GPE phones who want to convert to GPE software but don't want to void their warranty by unlocking the bootloader can flash with this image.
