Hi all, having a problem here, I can't flash the Kernel. It stays at the boot screen with the 4 colored dots. Tried a lot of things, changed cache to ext4 but no luck. I am using the nexus Root toolkit. Only stock kernel can be flashed. Any ideas what's going on here?
Have you just unlocked your device's bootloader?

Yes, i did.. Also flashed the Ice kernel and that worked. I read that you have to change cache to ext4 so i did that in twrp recovery. Than i tried to flash this kernel. no succes. At the moment my n9 is going through a factory reset and its recovering all the apps.

If you have just unlocked your device, you need to let it boot up fully with stock recovery and stock kernel for it to process the wipe command that's triggered when you unlock

For some reason twrp can't process the command that's why it gets stuck in the boot loop.
Once booted you can reflash twrp and any kernel you want

What are these recommended values you mention? Couldn't find them in this thread. Also, what ROM are you running?

Just got my Nexus 9 today and was pretty disappointed with stock, so I'm trying to get some more performance out of what I know can be a beautiful machine.
Check post #65 of this thread. There is a link to Faux's G+ with a post containing the values (screenshots of his app with those values).
Edit: addicted1900 already posted it:)

And I'm using lollipopalooza.

Sorry, I misunderstood. But I unlocked the bootloader a long time ago. After that I flashed the Ice kernel and that worked well. I wanted to try something else and tried to flash this faux kernel and then it got in a boot loop.

Thanks for the awesome kernel! Just wondering, are there plans to add voltage control? Hopefully some undervolting helps with the heat...

Have you tried flashing back to stock kernel 1st before flashing faux's?
Sometimes a modified ramdisk can cause a bootloop

Yes, i tried that. No luck. I will try again when my n9 is recovered from a factory reset.

Edit: after a factory reset I managed to flash the kernel :)

Quick question, do I have to pay $5 for the FauxClock app? I wanted to try it out first before I commit but can't find anything on his G+ for a trial type of download.

No you don't have to purchase the faux clock app its not obligatory, there are free apps that provide similar options. But buy the app enjoy the features and support the dev for spending his spare time. If still not satisfied you can always refund, Fauxclock works on the majority on kernels available in the forums.

Flar2 posted that he tried messing around with voltages, but that the automatic dynamic voltage adjustment does a far better job, than we could do with manually setting the voltages.

Are there any [different]recommended settings for using the fiops I/o scheduler? And what settings should be tweaked to decrease heat, & increase web browsing battery life?

Silly question, you did flash the kernel didn't you?
Faux's previous release didn't have fiops, check the kernel version in settings -> about tablet has a build date of Dec 21st, that's the 002 release

You were right, somehow flashed the wrong kernel. [emoji19]

Thanks, all is working now very nicely!

Quick question; I'm looking for a "set-it-and-forget-it" kernel. I don't really feel like messing with governors, schedulers, voltages, etc. Can I just flash this kernel and still take advantage of its optimizations (encryption, etc.) without installing fauxclock and tweaking the settings?

I did that first, and yes, it works just fine. But with the additional tweaks it's noticeably better. I know the value of benchmarks is limited but I've been using them anyway just for the fun of it between various changes. Antutu is over 58,000 with the kernel and modified settings. That's the best I've seen yet.
It's like the 21st century version of muscle cars with themes and wallpapers instead of paint jobs, but less expensive, more functional, and safer.

Hi I only got 51k in Antutu. Are we supposed to use the recommended settings posted on Google+ in November or have they been updated?
