FBI style headset

Hi has anyone used FBI style headset with phone (the type used with 2 way radios) please explaing pros and cons.with or without throat mic

I thought about getting one, but all the reviews I read said the sound from the mike is really muffled, even the recorded demo sounded really muddy.
