Transparent Sotfkeys and Task Bars for WM builds higher than 20757 or equal (6.1, 6.5..)
tested on 20757, 20764, 21014, 21015, 21042, 21502, 28544 and 19588!

  • Method

    I show that on screenshot:

    metoda.png

Althought is not always the same place in code.

    sooo..

    ------------

Open .data sector (S001) in shell32.exe module, search a same hex code:

FF 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF

Selected fragment is a value of taskbar transparency.
In below screenshot is at the 0x9A0 offset

    ------------

    Similarly for aygshell.dll
Open .data sector (S001) in aygshell.dll module, search a hex code:

FF 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF

Selected fragment is a value of softkeys transparency.
In below screenshot is at the 0x750 offset.

    ------------

  • Transparency Value

We can adjust transparency from 0x00 to 0xFF, where 0x00 is a maximum transparency (shell don't show bars),
    0xFF is a no transparency (normal);
0x80 is a medial level of transparency, when bars looks exactly as those in Cotulla Magican ROMs.

That method is mainly for ROMMakers and advanced users.
Requires ROM dump.

This feature is used in my beta ROM called "H3r4":

..so you decided to tell them method, ham3r...
(jak widzisz, panowie nawet nie wiedzą, ze to info dla kucharzy...)

btw, it's not applicable for testing with samWMEmuKitchen v0.2b and dumped emu rom's, interesting, there are 00's there.

upd: do not use vistahidebatterygauge with that mod, it will make glitched pixels around icons on taskbar.

It didn't work for me with WM 6.5 build 21895. Just to be clear, in both files I changed:
Code:
[B]FF[/B] 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF
to
Code:
[B]00[/B] 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF
Is that the correct setting for completely transparent task/softkeybars?

It didn't work for me with WM 6.5 build 21895. Just to be clear, in both files I changed:
This is generally for 6.1, not 6.5.x...It's generally better to use theme to control transparency on 6.5.x..
updated thought: BUT, of course, it may be applicable with 6.5 too..but there's no real reason to do it that way..UNTIL you are fighting for combined methods of gaining free RAM(up to 2 mb of free ram without bs 6.5.x skin, but...).

Is that the correct setting for completely transparent task/softkeybars?

Yup.

Yup.
Thanks for confirming that for me. 21895 is 6.5 COM2 branch, not a 6.5.x branch. I guess if it does work with 6.5, it must only work for old versions.

tried this mod on wm6.1.21056 changing the "FF" value to 70 but nothing happens. now i'm retrying setting "00" which should be completely transparent. btw does it work when manila loads too or only with wm titanium?

upd:
I tested that method with 21056 and $80 worked fine.

His discovery needs few "insiders" for further tests.
