Good job! Black folder background now works on Pixel4a.

For the records:
pixel4a SP1A.211105.002
magisk 23.0
substratum lite overlay helper 0.5.20
pixel tweaks helper searchbar removal 2.0.0.4 (flashed over 2.0.0.3 with magisk)
pixel tweaks 6.3 (apk) installed after uninstalling 6.2 version

Works like a charm! Applause for @eg1122
If I really have to find a flaw, I'd say that the dockbar still needs a bit more padding, top and bottom.
But heck, no, I'm really happy with my current config.
The top padding on the dock is auto generated based on the vertical grid, but I can still tweak the bottom padding some. Send over a screenshot so I can compare to P6 and find a happy median.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong I've mostly been trying to use it to keep using the stock launcher and change the dock and grid size and hide battery but it doesn't seems to stick for me . I'm using the 5x5 grid the magisk mod is active and I'll make the overlay reboot and set again and reboot the overlay will show green but nothing seems to stick. I do have lawn chair launcher installed but had the pixel launcher active. I've read through it all multiple times thinking I've missed something I even uninstalled and reinstalled everything and no go I'm using a pixel 6 pro thx if you need screen shots or logcats just let me know I'm starting to feel dumb because usually things like this I don't have a problem with thx again for your hard work.

Thanks for the work ! Currently using a Pixel 5 with Android 12 (SP1A.211105.003). I've thried to install the "Pixel5.Tweaks.Helper.CC.Searchbar.Removal.v2.0.0.4.zip" and the "Pixel5.Tweaks.Helper.Searchbar.Removal.v2.0.0.4.zip". There are creating bootloop for me. Does any one else experience this ?

I've found in the thread the "Pixel5.Tweaks.Helper.CC.Searchbar.Removal.v2.0.0.1.zip". The v2.0.0.1 is working for me. But I would rather like the file without CC. Does anyone can share the "Pixel5.Tweaks.Helper.Searchbar.Removal.v2.0.0.1.zip" ?

Thanks !

I checked out the zips and it all looks to be in order. The biggest change is the inclusion of framework-res.apk. Do you have any other mods that modify that or SystemUI? If not, could you upload stock SystemUI and framework-res so I can compare. Thanks.

After using your app i finally was able to remove the searchbar and have some more apps on the home screen. But now for some reason Android Auto is not working anymore. Can it be that this has something to do with the flasing of Pixel.Tweaks.Helper.Searchbar.Removal.zip and the overlay? Is there a way that i can revert my changes so i can see if it is this what is causing the troubles?

Simply disable the overlays in substratum lite, then turn off the mod in magisk and reboot to go back to stock to see if the issue is gone. I'll test on my side as well.

Forgot it was as simple as that :) Everything works ok without the adjustments. As soon as i load the Pixel Tweaks Helper Searchbar removal, then it starts acting strange. The menu bar in Google Auto disappears, I only get Google Maps and after reinstalling Android Auto it doesnt load at all.
On my pixel 5 I also removed the searchbar, no problems there, but probably for that was Android 11

I'm having the same issue with android auto. The two I used are the change accent colors and change status bar colors. AA doesn't show the bar at the bottom, then stops working after reinstall. I disabled both and rebooted, but the issue remained. I had to toggle the tweaks module off and reboot to get it to work again.

Sucks too, the new color choices are almost what you pick, and I love it! Cheers to the awesome work!

Once December ota is released on P6 I'll build it a piece at a time to test. Hopefully I can figure out what the issue is and it doesn't interfere with the mods.

Was searching for mods and found this... And substratum was originally built for Samsung devices and it hijacks Samsung's theme engine. Substratum lite isn't from the same people anymore as Substratum. Both work differently now and idk when either was last updated. Meaning their overlay maybe outdated and the reason for all the problems. Not really designed for Vanilla Android. Just saying. And I remember an issue between the overlay and magisk when I last owned a Samsung years ago. Just saying. Running double and triple apks to get an app to change a color is insane. Launcher for example, you have launcher apk going and the overlay apk you installed. Battery eater for sure. Research what Substratum is before installing. Because it's on play store doesn't mean it works on all devices.

This mod is over 3 years old (started on pixel 3). So trust me and the thousands of downloads and installs it has had, it works on pixels.

And to add further, Substratum Lite works just fine on Android 12 with this device. In fact, still working fine on my Pixel 2XL (Android 11) and 4XL (Android 12) as well.

And 6 pages in 3 weeks. Lol. Sounds like it works great. Just saying. Substratum was never built for our phones. Period. Just a quick read through, the stock Pixel launcher for the pro and since the 5a the grid default has been 4×5(which I have actually owned). Not 5×5. But hey, what do I know. Lol. Keep installing those apks.. I am sure all these problems in 6 pages relate to exactly what I am saying. Anyone know the last time it was updated and how many android versions since? "2+2=4"

And notice how the majority of those issues were user errors or minor issues that have been already resolved? Android Auto is a new issue and that's because of Android 12. Its different and I just have to figure out what edit causes it and fix it. No one is making anyone install this. There are 5 different problems reported in the last 6 pages, some were user error, some were incompatibility which has been fixed. The only issue still present is the Android Auto one. So please do us all a favor and if you have nothing positive to add then leave this thread. No one is making anyone install this. It is free, you are not paying for it. Don't feel entitled to tell others what they should and shouldn't do with their devices. As long as I'm active I will fix any issues my mod causes and when the time comes someone will eventually come up with something to render this mod obsolete. Until then please go troll elsewhere.

Oh hai!, especially miggsr, it's been a while my friend.

This debate is very interesting, but I think it's run its course. Substratum can cause problems on a phone. Duh. Everything on this site can cause problems on your phone. That's the whole point of XDA! To learn, to push devices to their limits.

Android would be nowhere near as awesome had they not kanged all the good ideas from the developers at XDA. You couldn't even restart a phone on stock Android back in the day, only shutdown. XDA people added it to their custom ROMs and magically it was added by Google.

As for trust, and overlays, and keylogging, and such, again, that can happen on almost anything here. I've flashed plenty of custom ROMs in my day, but only did so from trusted sources. Because I'm basically trusting that developer to do the right thing and trusting the community will point out when they aren't.

Pixel Tweaks might have trouble on the Pixel 6. Not surprising, the device is brand new as is Android 12. The developer is fixing what needs fixing and helping people figure out what's wrong with their device when Pixel Tweaks isn't the problem. Great! Just what we hope XDA is used for.

So, let's move on from the debate about Substratum Lite and continue focusing on Pixel Tweaks. If you want to discuss the merits of Substratum for this device, please create your own thread somewhere else.

I'm subscribing to this thread so please let's be on our best behavior. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a PM.

    Initial Android 12 Release

    Downloads for Pixel 6 lineup

Attached you will find 4 files that you can download. The apks are the actual Substratum Themes and one of the zips is needed in order for the theme to function properly. PT.Helper.SBR.zip is the exact same thing as the other plus the added removal of the home screen searchbar. This zip will only remove the searchbar in the home screen. If you don't want to remove the home screen searchbar please download and flash Pixel.Tweaks.Helper.zip instead.
