Hello guys, I'm zenfone 5 user
And I'm thinking of change my phone to z3 compact this august

I have some questions

-How's custom rom support? I used samsung galaxy s3 for a long time before zenfone (crap). And s3 still supporting
-Battery life? I checked few posts about battery but screen time is around 3.5 hours? It's worse than 3 year older my s3 (I'm not comparing them with my current phone because it dies in 2 hours  )
-I heard that camera is not great at all, is it true?
-Never used any sony smartphone before( except my first phone was t100- sony ericson :D), would you recommend sony phones?

Thanks a lot

I don't know about root but I like the stock z3c.
The battery generally last around 2-3 days for me with 5hrs + SOT, copious amont of browsing, and generally using the phone as a smartphone.
There is some debloating to do (as is usual for smart devices) and after that is over and done with the battery just goes on and on.
The camera is good, especially if you take the time to learn how to use the manual settings (mostly exposure and white balance (and setting the camera to more than 8mp, which is the default settings in auto mode). Auto is good for most purposes, especially outdoors, but manual is better for indoor usage.
I have photographed constellations at night without issue with this camera.
The waterproofness is great and allows for carefree usage in all weathers. I come from Iceland and had no problems with the phone while taking pictures in snowstorms and frozen rivers. Though, admittedly, I had to use my warranty and replace the phone after a glass of water bested it, but since then I double check that all flaps are closed and sealed (and I use a magnetic charger so I never have to open any flaps) and no amount of water has affected my second z3c in the 3-4 months that have passes since the waterglass incident
I came from Samsung to Sony and I am not regretting the switch. The z3c is a quick device that can be comfortably used with one hand and the dedicated 2 step camera button is something that all devices should have.
I read and re-read these forums before buying this phone and I found that the positive posts outweigh the negative ones, and that most negative posts are replied to with helpful advice that helps settle whatever issue was plaguing the user.
Those are my 2 cents. I hope you find some use in my words.
