Hi guys,

I'm asking in this forum section because I think that only developers can answer my question,

I've recently bought a Defy (european version), I've flashed lastest Finland leaked sbf (2.2),

Now I'm trying to filter ads on this stock rom, I don't want install a custom rom, I'm fine with the stock,

I've tried to manually change hosts located into /system/etc/hosts (taken by Pays ROM) with negative result, I've also tried Market App: AdFree (that download an updated hosts file and put it on right location using root) but same thing, it's not working,

Can you please explain me if there is something else I need to change in the stock rom to let Android's system uses correctly the hosts file?

Thanks anyone for replying,

Alex

Just use adfree. Open the app, download and install host. Close the app by pressing back button. Open the app again, update, close it again. Open the app for the final time and you should be fine.hope this helps.

The hosts file is at /etc/hosts. You can replace that with a custom file and it will work just fine, after a reboot to clear any cached hosts.

There is no need to use adfree if you prefer editing the file manually.
