Friends, after trying various apps, finally found a call recorder that truly works for our LG G8X.
The recorder is: "Call Recorder & Anonymous Voice - IntCall ACR".
Remember, after installing it, allow all the permission it ask for one by one.
It works, whether one is using only the single phone, or with the attached 2nd screen.
