and here i was thinking that my Defy red lens bayer device flashed with full 2.3.6. sbf file for Defy+ is essentially the same device as a Defy+ by now.

What are the differences? Everything works fine with the Defy+ sbf no inverted cam..thats only happening in CM 7.2 nightly
The difference is in last 134 kernels... a few changes... like the videodev.h :/

No, and i dont think its possible... Ive found the way to copy the exact nand backup (all hidden partitions) and even with the exact md5sums of my old backup, no logo at all...

I think something is saved in other components, cpu rom or an eeprom, no idea where that could be..

The CG versions of many partitions (bootloader, system) are stored in one time programmable memory ("eFuse") in the CPU. They are verified by an internal bootrom, which is also stored in the CPU. No, downgrading is impossible. :(

I suppose with 2nd-init you could overwrite the kernel in RAM and do a warm reboot to bypass the bootloader, but that has proven difficult in the past.

I'm pretty sure is not possible to downgrade unless Motorola releases a way to disable the eFuse system. The CGv6 its stored inside the CPU, these chips can rewire themselves, so its a hardware lock.

The old downgrade process is a trick, where you actually never flashed using RSD a Froyo, but creating the appropiate partitions and just copying Froyo files into it.

And as far as I know, is not possible to boot Froyo using the new Kernel and stuff from 2.3.6 official.

Prolly yes.. i think the only way to downgrade is:
- put 75/1400 on vsel, switch to performance governor and run quadrant indefinitely.
After a while the phone will burn and then they @ Moto hopefully will change the baseboard and reflash froyo.

but hey.. my defy get broken after some oc tests, with every single hack possible in it, and they returned it to me with a brand new board (also the IMEI was changed) and froyo, for zero bucks...
