Fingerprint Scanner Gone?

Charged phone during long flight, and read a lot. After landing, fingerprint sensor was like 50%. Reboot, no improvement. Menu for fingerprint settings...click and lag, nothing. Reboot. Now fingerprint menu is gone. So is home button!

PITA....got Leedrod tweaks for Navbar! Dirty flash, and no fp sensor. Clean flash, no fp sensor. Restore stock system and wipe data...doesn't even ask for fingerprint on setup. It's like the hardware disappeared. Tried force stop fingerprint software from settings, apps, show system, and clear data. Reboot again...gone.

Wakeup next day, reboot and it works? So flash Leedroid, and restore my Nandroid data...all good now.

So what can cause the loss of the hardware like this? Some kind of security lockout? Or hardware fault? Didn't get wet. Still in 30 day period...should I send it back?

Has there been a software update from htc for the fingerprint sensor?. Things usually go mental when updates occur..

No changes from my end regarding software. I guess it's possible something got corrupted with flashing and stuff. Seems to be a common problem on other devices:

https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...vailable-issue-started-out-of-nowhere.450914/

They describe same situation as me. Hardware just disappears, and the related menus.

Thought mine was fixed, but it happened again last night. I let battery fully drain, then fully charged, rebooted, and it's back again? I did walk around in the rain last night...could be related.

Wish I knew if this was software or hardware issue. Guess only way to know would be to RUU.

Another weird thing: I have to enter a pin now when phone boots up. Not on the lock screen, but on a separate system prompt. Same thing when I start TWRP. Could be a security issue? Or a conflict in PIN settings?

Any help appreciated!
