Well, r4p was listed on third batch for global beta earlier, then discarded from the list(second last announcement) then added again. So, can't be too hopeful for it yet.

The MIUI9 Beta China is MM, so, if Xiaomi release the global, will be MM also.
This is why we cannot have a nice thing, another device with same spec only larger screen get updated to nougat. Another cheap one with less powerful spec get updated to nougat.

My next device will likely xiaomi previous flagship or devices from another OEM that have better kernel, source release so I can see active development. Maybe Moto or Oneplus.

Maybe Redmi 4 Pro not sells pretty well in comparison with Redmi Note 4 and others

It's true but that is not a reason to abandon several months old devices, every big OEM should have follow 2 major android release support.
Or atleast 1 major android release should be enough.

Think how would you dissapoint if you buy newest android 7.1.2 device only to learn after half year later that your device will not get update to 8.0.

Xiaomi isn't small OEM, they have resources to bring MIUI 9 to work with Mi2 (5 years old flagship). So why cannot they work on newer device?
