I have an open, in use HD10 that I use only mounted on my wall as a home automation dashboard. So for that its fine. But with the Lineage 12.1 rom its VERY laggy/slow.

Is the 8th gen (2019) HD10 a lot faster?

I have another sealed new 7th gen but thinking I may sell it and get something else... 8th gen or even cheap Samsung TabA.

thx for the input!

Can you install Geekbench app from Google Play to test the performance

Is the HD8 suitable for watching netflix and disney?

So I'm starting to look for a replacement for my old Galaxy s3 tablet and the pricing for the HD8 is hard to argue with. I really only want this for watching videos when I'm on the treadmill...is this tablet suitable for this? I've seen very mixed reviews on the web.

The HD8 is perfect for this. It's not the fastest tablet in the world but it's also not super laggy.

Would I get in trouble linking to a review of the HD10 Gen 9/2019 that compares it with the previous generation? It has GeekBench, 3D Mark, and AnTuTu scores. I didn't make the video.

Size and button placement is the same for the 2017 and 2019 Fire HD 10, so the same cases will fit both.

An important difference between 2017 and 2019 is the Fire OS version. The 2017 model is still currently on Fire OS 5, which is based on Android 5. I'm starting to see some apps that don't work because they require a newer Android version. The 2019 model is currently on Fire OS 7, which is based on Android 9.

Got my case yesterday. The label shows the same case fits both 2017 and 2019 Fire HD 10. It seems the main physical difference is the USB-C vs MicroUSB ports.

    Ok.

Video is by ETA Prime. He does a quick review of the specs (approx 1:37) then goes into comparing the 7th Gen HD10 to the 9th Gen (at approx 2:55).

is there any difference as of their sizes? Will the 2019 and 2017 use the same case
Physical size is identical but button placement may differ. Check HD10 cases on Amazon to verify fit.
