Any clue what's the latest for R890 ?
I have R890XXU1FVC8 from March, which is my last update.
I'm afraid I may have picked up a preowned watch which went through this misery and got blocked.

The USB pinout given by adfree in this thread is correct if you switch data - and + !
But.. Only creates an usb connection in download modus/upload modus. Im trying to get an USB ADB connection.. Anyone has any suggestions?

Interesting fact: If you charge the watch on the charging puck and connect the USB while watch is normally booted. And disconnect the watch from the charging puck, it will keep on charging through the USB. But when you connect the usb while not being charged by the puck, it wont start charging.

@Mr Sang ( Vietnam )

I made these files with 7Zip Tool.

If file not corrupted by Download fail or something else... then 7Zip should work.

On your screenshot I see SM-R890... in your text I read SM-R860...

Best Regards
I currently have
Model SM-R860XXU1AUF9
Product not installed firmware
You can give me firmware ?

Dear

@Mr Sang ( Vietnam )

A

You are able to work with Tool ADB?

Please check:
Code:
adb shell
su

B

Please backup APK files from SM-R860...

If you need help, I can try to assist you.

C

In theory dump whole Firmware is possible...

Code:
adb root
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=512 count=10000000 of=/sdcard/dump.bin

Pull from device:

Code:
adb pull /sdcard/dump.bin

Thanx in advance

Thank you Jacob1004.

I have now time to check... on my Ubuntu Notebook...

Best Regards

Edit 1.

Downloaded:
IMG_Patch_Tools_0.3.zip

Now I copy all files I need to try:
Code:
./BlockImageUpdate <system.img> <system.transfer.list> <system.new.dat> <system.patch.dat>

Edit 2

Few Noob problems but I hope this helps...
Code:
sudo apt-get install libbz2-dev zlib1g-dev openssl

Edit 3.

Hmmmmm...
Code:
./BlockImageVerify system.img system.transfer.list system.new.dat system.patch.dat
./BlockImageVerify: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Edit 4...
Tiny progress... Seems I was able to fix this lib problem...

Code:
sudo dpkg -i ./libssl1.0.0_1.0.2n-1ubuntu5.9_amd64.deb

Help and files found here:

Edit 5.
Code:
[email protected]:~/imgpatch/patchi$ ./BlockImageVerify system.img system.transfer.list system.new.dat system.patch.dat
performing verification
creating cache dir cache

rmdir "cache" failed
deleting stash 537ed49fb5f6c32dc3d205d78b6084fe54f70cd3
Done with error code : 0

Edit 6. :alien:
Code:
./BlockImageUpdate system.img system.transfer.list system.new.dat system.patch.dat

Meanwhile runs since minutes and I can see some "normal looking" log...

Waiting for final result...

Edit 7.
Seems uccessfully finished...

For patching Kernel from update.zip

User sermister1 teached me how to do.
1000000 thanx

Code:
a20e:/sdcard # losetup -f
/dev/block/loop1
a20e:/sdcard # losetup /dev/block/loop1 /sdcard/boot.img
a20e:/sdcard # applypatch --patch /sdcard/boot.img.p --target EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:c777f915a5254e5c6e49913f808a7b12676b551d --source EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:18f49cd9b76b3d503ee607c344d67ca670ee6701
a20e:/sdcard # dd if=/dev/block/loop1 of=/sdcard/dump1.bin
73728+0 records in
73728+0 records out
37748736 bytes (36 M) copied, 0.381010 s, 94 M/s

Older example...

I will do this for SM-R860 EVB4 to FVD4... and post result...

Later...

I was able to use my rooted SM-A202F Android 11... without installing additional stuff

Here Copy and Paste example for Patch EVB4 to FVD4 Kernel from SM-R860...
All files are here:

For easier handling I have attached necessary files...

Performed with my rooted SM-A202F Android 11...

A
Copy 2 files to /sdcard

B
Then simple Copy&Paste ADB Commands
Code:
adb shell

su

cd /sdcard

losetup -f

losetup /dev/block/loop1 /sdcard/boot.img

applypatch --patch /sdcard/boot.img.p --target EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:a92870f779321f9190c451cd9469bfe0f4ee3bcb --source EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:18f49cd9b76b3d503ee607c344d67ca670ee6701

dd if=/dev/block/loop1 of=/sdcard/dumploop.bin

C
vbmeta.img is FULL inside update.img...

FVD4 Kernel is inside attached ZIP...

I hope I made no big mistake... not tested to flash... No files to compare...

My ADB output looked like this...

Code:
D:\Android\ADB>adb shell
* daemon not running; starting now at tcp:5037
* daemon started successfully
a20e:/ $ su
a20e:/ # cd /sdcard
a20e:/sdcard # losetup -f
/dev/block/loop1
a20e:/sdcard # losetup /dev/block/loop1 /sdcard/boot.img
a20e:/sdcard # applypatch --patch /sdcard/boot.img.p --target EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:a92870f779321f9190c451cd9469bfe0f4ee3bcb --source EMMC:/dev/block/loop1:37748736:18f49cd9b76b3d503ee607c344d67ca670ee6701
1|a20e:/sdcard # dd if=/dev/block/loop1 of=/sdcard/dumploop.bin
73728+0 records in
73728+0 records out
37748736 bytes (36 M) copied, 0.379492 s, 95 M/s

D

For Hashes look into updater-script

Code:
patch_partition("EMMC:/dev/block/by-name/boot:37748736:a92870f779321f9190c451cd9469bfe0f4ee3bcb",
                "EMMC:/dev/block/by-name/boot:37748736:18f49cd9b76b3d503ee607c344d67ca670ee6701",
                package_extract_file("boot.img.p"))

Only as info...

I want to make a small contribution to the thread in question, I have a gw4 ldu which did not allow any device configuration. I downloaded the SM-R890 EVA8 file and unzipped it with 7zip and then retransformed in tar format again with 7zip. I then connected the gw4 with netodin and uploaded the file to the device. Finished the job everything works wonders, it also received the latest update released by samsung. Tanks to Adfree for his hard job
