That is funny, your zip file that you have is the same as Sammy mobile offers, which I get, but I have one that is official that is 3.3 gig !! Not 1.7 gig... Full tar.md5 file.. I am going to tear it down and see what, if any, differences there are, outside of just compression during the zip process.

Update: Never mind, it is the fact they compressed the tar.md5 into a zip file.

Wait a minute, there is a difference with what I have.. I have the VZW PIT file for the partition layouts :)

Here you go, add this to the OP.. (Verizon Partition Information Table)

Thanks! I'll add it just in case.

The compression ratio comes from 7zip vs zip & the PIT file isn't required unless you need to "repartition" (which violates step #6 here) or make custom partitions (edit PIT for DevED or unlocked bootloader). Odin v3.09 can get it from the device & images anyway.

Thanks so much for putting this together, and forgive my apprehension but just to clarify,

I've got the Dev Ed, and if I were looking to effectively return it to stock (obviously not wanting to overwrite/lock the BL), I'd simply ODIN using the 4 associated tar's individually? (stock restore, kernel, modem, recovery) Would I want to catch the reboot and put it back in download mode between each tar flashed? Would there be a preferred order to this?

-Thanks

No, the Stock Restore tar includes all images (system, cache, kernel, modem, recovery, ... etc) except bootloaders (which are device specific on DevEd).

Why if the devices are the same except the boot loader why can't we flash the dev edition images to the retail and it work or vice versa

I don't understand what you mean. Actually, all tars in this thread include the same stock images with just excluding bootladers for DevEd. For instance, Stock Restore = Full Firmware - Bootloaders !

NO, you can't flash DevEd bootloaders b/c they're specific for each device & your locked bootloader won't even allow it. If you did it with any other method (not Odin), you'll most probably HARD BRICK your device.
