Since the latest firmware upgrade my SIM-cards are constantly dropping connections. It will switch from 5G to 4G and back endlessly, then crash and go offline alltogether. I already did a complete MSM restore, but it's still happening. So, I want to downgrade firmware again to see if this helps, because I never had any modem problems with older firmware.
Is it safe to downgrade firmware ONLY? I'm afraid of breaking my IMEIs.

This is a pretty widespread issue btw, theres a 16 page thread on OPs own forum and countless reddit-threads about this...

I wouldn't think it's a big deal but honestly I would try a different rom first but that's my own opinion.

Thank you for packaging firmware for the users running custom ROMs. Saves people so much time instead of upgrading firmware by flashing latest OOS , then back over to custom ROM.

I have a oneplus8t United States unlocked , I believe this would be the kb2005 ?

Reading through the thread, My understanding is that you cannot package 11.0.8.13.KB05AA? Which would be the latest for oneplus8t global , correct?

Where exactly can one review their current firmware version on AOSP ?
You can look at the timestamp near the end of /vendor/firmware_mnt/verinfo/ver_info.txt and compare to the timestamp in the version name - it will be close though not identical.
For example:
The timestamp in the firmware version of 11.0.11.11 Global is 2110091944 (15.O.29_OTA_0290_all_2110091944_3d8159dff77f4ef1)
The timestamp in ver_info.txt is "Time_Stamp": "2021-10-09 19:54:37"
They differ by about 10s.

You might (I don't know if this works on custom ROMs) also be able to check getprop persist.vendor.op.last.version.ota

Note: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modem_x gets mounted on /vendor/firmware_mnt so ver_info.txt is actually a file in the modem partition.

I just flashed latest MICROG Lineage OS 18.1 ROM and it came with what looks like the latest and greatest firmware:

baseband HI.2.0.c4-00028-SDX55_RMTEFS_PACK-1.327103.49

No need to flash separate firmware files?

Custom ROMs only flash to rom specific partitions, so it will not update other firmware that a full OOS update would flash to. So, if you never updated to the latest OOS when running stock before flashing a custom rom, you should flash the latest firmware zip posted here.

Ok, thanks. So I flashed latest firmware posted here, and now Baseband version says:

4-00028-SDX55_RMTEFS_PACK_1.418912.1.432109.1

My teacher told me that there is no such thing as a stupid question... So I want everyone to keep that in mind... What is the difference between LPDDR4X and LPDDR5.... I bought my 8t when they 1st came out and I have LPDDR4X.. Is LPDDR5 just faster newer hardware? Did it come out on the later builds of the 8t or is it a random thing that customers get two different types? Honestly If LPDDR5 is better in anyway then LPDDR4X... Then being a customer... Honestly pisses me off.. a little.. I mean I'm not going to do **** about it.. but I will think on inside of my head... That's kinda f*cked.. if it's the same product it should all have the same hardware... Am I the only person thinking this?

I am new to 8T, so maybe it is a stupid question... But...

Do I have to update on both slots, A + B?

Or is there only one partition for firmware?
Or does the update update both slots?

Tnx in advance.
Enkidu
This is a firmware update not the whole system ( os ) update. You need to update zip via twrp and good to go. Dont think about A/B. Just make sure you download the correct zip.( chech OP for ddr0 or ddr1 ) and thats it.

IMHO, OnePlus switched to LPDDR5 because it's cheaper to buy it for them, than LPDDR4X.
Also chip shortage and supply problems may lead to it too.
I don't think you'll notice the change in real use cases.

Thank you for your response... TBH I'm not even sure what components those are... Is it memory (ram) or bus speed? I'm just being curious..

OnePlus Flashable Firmware (OnePlus 8T All Models)

    Code:
    #include
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

You can get updates always from various mirrors available on the website:

    Frequently Asked Questions:
What is firmware? Is it a full ROM or OTA package?

Firmware is not a ROM nor OTA Package, it's a set of low-level drivers which helps the operating system do whatever it wants to do. It includes various things like Modem, Bluetooth, Bootloader, DSP and etc.

Why should I update the Firmware?
Firmware is provided from OnePlus Full OTA directly, and there are no sources for it to let developers build and edit it on their own like custom ROMs, so if you want to keep your device up to date always update your firmware!

Do I need to update the Firmware If I'm an OxygenOS official or a custom ROM user?
No, OxygenOS ROMs contain the firmware package from the payload.bin which I extract and provide here.

Should I update my firmware monthly?
Yes, Basically to follow the latest firmware optimization from OxygenOS to any Android Open Source Project Custom ROMs and to provide better experience.

    What are the supported models?
    • KB2000
    • KB2001
    • KB2003
    • KB2005
    • KB2007
    Important reminder (Before Flashing):
Check your DDR type using ADB with the following commands
    Code:
    adb shell getprop ro.boot.ddr_type

    0 - represents your device is DDR0 or LPDDR4X
    1 - represents your device is DDR1 or LPDDR5

    How to update the firmware?
    1. You can use TWRP to flash this Firmware Update or
    2. You can also sideload the firmware.zip package via LOS/PE based Recoveries.
    3. On LOS/PE Recovery, select “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB” to begin sideload.
    4. On the host machine, sideload the package using: adb sideload <filename.zip>.zip
    5. On TWRP Recovery, you may directly flash the firmware zip file and reboot after the flashing process succeed.

How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.
