recovery.img

How about a custom recovery .the build your own recovery with stock recovery.IMG leads to a http// 404 error online after it builds it.any of you smarter than me individuals know how to build a custom CWM/TWRP img ?

Nexus 5 via Tapatalk

I have been trying to learn how to do this, but not receiving much help. I have the recovery.img from Tab Pro and figured that would be a good start. If anyone wants to help I am sure we can figure it out.

Feel free to PM me.

Thanks

Is this compatible with the Chinese T700?

Hi All,

Thanks so much for posting these files. I just bought the T700, and being that I live in China the firmware version is completely locked down. You can't add a Google account, access Google Play etc etc. For me, it's completely rubbish.

So, I have a few questions. If someone would be so kind as to answer them for me I would be very grateful.

1. Can I flash the firmware version supplied here without trouble? I have downloaded the file posted here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358556680

2. Do I need root to flash this? I'm assuming no, right?

3. Do I just need Odin to do it?

4. Can someone please post some step-by-step instructions on how to flash this ROM to my device?

5. Is it possible to backup my current firmware, without root? Or would I need to locate a copy of the firmware from a local Chinese source, if I wanted a way to get back to stock in case of warranty issues?

I am not a newb at flashing ROMs, but I just want to make sure I am taking all of the correct steps. Once I am running a standard English (w/ Google etc) ROM, I then plan on rooting so I can get into all of my usual Android goodness. I just want to make sure I don't screw up this first step.

I saw a post in the T800 thread by someone running a Canadian T800 who says they bricked their device while trying to flash the firmware posted there. Obviously there is a risk involved with all of this, no problems there, just wondering if my device would for some reason by incompatible with this firmware.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Here is my work for the 8.4 (Recoveries can be built from both the prebuilt kernel or the kernel source)

1) Prebuilt, you dont get root in recovery but very fast boot time
2) Custom, Longer boot time but you get root.

The one I have linked into that post is using the prebuilt kernel since I figure most people will be more concerned with boot time then whether they have root in their recovery.

I am currently in firmware T700XXU1ANF7. Can I flash safely T700XXU1ANF9 with a CSC from an other country than mine ?

CSC is important only for phone, right ? Not for a wifi only tablet..

This is the latest firmware (T700XXU1ANF7) as of June 29, 2014 for the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (Wifi) model (SM-T700).

"No-Wipe" means your app data and storage will all stay 100% in tact. Only system mods, custom kernels, and root will be removed as you are flashing stock firmware.

Please feel free to use as you see fit.

i'm on trouble with this firmwere.
after odin use, i have the hidden.com fail! problem and i can't solve it.
someone can help me?

I was seeing 5-10 hour download times on other stock firmware downloads, so hopefully this one will work, I'm trying to re-flash a demo unit running T700XXU1ANE9 and was looking for the non demo stock firmware of the same, but this looks like it should work as well.

Thanks

No I am unable to extract and have done many in the past. It appears no one here has been successful either!!!

bare with me on that one since I tried too many different options, following worked for me - required files attached here (I ziped, so hopefully XDA did not blocked it)

    This is for Windows PC:
    1. Download sgs4ext4fs.exe, and download firmware, unzip firmware up until you see system.img.
    2. Open command prompt (on windows, click start, type cmd) where system.img, and type

    sgs4ext4fs --trim system.img systemt.img
........ > you will see bunch of ............., but wait until it finishes.

    3. Once it finishes it creates systemt.img, get sgs2toext4.jar (save it to the same folder), and open sgs2toext4.jar, and drag and drop newly created systemt.img to the window (sgs2toext4.jar's window), wait until it finishes, when it finishes it will create systemt.ext4.img

    4. Now last step, download ext2explore.exe, and open it, and go to file --> open image and pick systemt.ext4.img, it will show the img file there (on both side of window), on the left side, select the systemt.ext4.img (should be showing full path), right click your mouse, and select save to your desktop or any other folder location you pick.

Obviously, next step will be odexing everything:laugh:

Maybe you could repack it with root files to get root. There is a how to video on you tube. I would do it, but my linux machine is down.

Please don't coming from the one that said root is okay from the note 10.1 2014 edition. Root and profit. Sound familiar. You mean root and brick.
