Rolled back, then used TWRP and flash2 to upgrade successfully.

when flashing boot/modem/system, do you need to reboot after each one, or can you flash them all at once and then reboot?

Also, to clarify, if I .tot to ZV4, root and install TWRP and then flash the boot/modem/system manually, what would be different from me doing the .tot, rooting/TWRPing and then say, installing THIS ROM ?

No. You do not reboot between them. Be forewarned that the system file uploaded previously has some extra characters in the filename that will cause it to not flash using flash2.

Yes ,using that ROM would be the same thing as doing everything I did.

I downloaded the Google OTA file, renamed it, and put it on my external SD card. When I go into stock recovery, and try to install it via SD, I get an error saying it couldn't mount the SD? Anyone else having this problem? I'm not rooted. The error is - e: failed to mount/sdcard (invalid argument)

I had the same problem, doesn't work for what ever reason. Just down load the newest sdk and pull ADB out of it and side load it in recovery, easy.

Is your card 64gb? If so, it need to be formatted to fat32, from what I've read. Seen several posts about it here.

So I'm going to admit here that I'm a little new to LG mostly owned HTC's in the past and I'm a little confused on all that I would actually need to update.


I'm currently on CM12 and don't really plan on going back to stock unless I would really need to.
Should I flash any of these files? Mostly referring to modem in this case.

Downgrade stock to zv4

the flash2 files have a check in them to make sure the proper file is in its proper place before anything else.. this way it doesnt erase your partition if its not actually going to flash a new file. Perhaps the folder is named Flash2 with a capital F? If the folder is named "flash2" with lowercase f and is located at /sdcard/flash2/ on your phone.... and the files are named system.img modem.img and boot.img with all lowercase letters.. it should work. They have been confirmed working by many users across all G3 models.

If there is still an issue.. please provide a recovery.log if possible.



No issues downgrading. There'd be giant red letters everywhere otherwise. But I have now added a mention in the OP that specifies downgrading is still an option. :good:

How do you downgrade stock to zv4. I haven't found the tot for zv4.

When using flash2 method, where can i find system.img, boot.img and modem.img these files.
When i download ROM, i only can find boot or modem, but no system.
I read all this thread and instructions on how to flash2 but i still dont understand where to find .img files after i download zips?
Sory for nooby questions, but i ll appriciate any help.

I'm on zv4 bootloader, would like to update to zv6 bootlaoder and keep root. Using your link provided to zv6 .imgs and partitions http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LS990/stock_partitions/ZV6

.... I plan to use my bump'd TWRP to flash these, but there are a couple in there that I'm not sure about. Which ones should I flash if I plan to keep my current recovery, want root, and plan to flash a 5.1.1 custom ROM right after?

edit: tried flashing all 13 .img (minus recovery.img) files from zv6 folder. Then flash custom rom. Received security error upon boot. Any idea why? I must have slipped up somewhere. LG flash tool back to stock zv4, rooted, back in business...

I am extremely new to this and don't have a clue how to fix my phone right now. I purchased a sprint used phone from amzaon but I did not know that it was rooted . I accepted an update on the phone and got stuctk at the TWRP screen in a boot loop. I unrooted with the zv4 flash but I think the phone was already in zv6. I have not been able to get service on the phone . I have accepted the android updates and the phone is in zv8 right now but still no service . factory rest but still no service, ##72786# but still no service.. I can try flashing the zv6 but I don't think thats the problem. can anyone offer advice. My phone says mobile network state disconnected and service state is out of state.

Might be a dumb question, but did you update PRL and Profile?
