i use lineageos 17.1 (so android 10). before i flashed LOS a few days ago miui was updated! (so i suppose android 11, but actually i didn't look at the android version -.-). but my actual baseband version is: MPSS.AT.4.3.1-00270-NICOBAR_GEN_PACK-1.380402.1.388696.6
if this firmware is for android 11 (?), should i "downgrade" to the last android 10 firmware posted in thus thread? is this possible or would i brick the device or damage my LOS?

Can I use the updated firmware on any custom ROM? Is it compatible with Paranoid Android Quartz 4 too?
If my custom ROM has Android 10, should I get the latest Android 10 firmware or Android 11 firmware can be flashed too?

In general you should use a10 firmware for a10 ROMs and a11 firmware with a11&12 ROMs. Often it's advised in the threads OP which firmware to use (or in the latest announcement post), if latest beta or latest (or specific) stable for example. IMPORTANT: Never flash ginkgo over willow or vice versa

As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release, and developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes, so releases are provided later. Here comes my solution:

A set of various scripts that automatically generates Xiaomi firmware flashable zip files every MIUI new update!
My scripts download MIUI official ROMs, both Developer and Stable, Global and China, extracts the firmware-update folder, generates firmware flashable zip with auto-written "updater-script", and uploads them automatically to many servers.
The scripts are completely automated, running on a Linux server every six hours.
Note:
Names will be in the following manner:
- fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGOGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Global firmware
- fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGOINGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 India firmware
- fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGO_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 China firmware
- fw_willow_miui_WILLOWGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T Global firmware

What is Firmware? Is it a full ROM or OTA package?
Firmware is not a ROM nor OTA Package, it's a set of low-level drivers that helps the operating system do whatever it wants to do. It includes various things like Modem, Bluetooth, Bootloader, DSP and etc.
Why should I update the Firmware?
Firmware is provided from Xiaomi directly, and there are no sources for it to let developers build and edit it on their own like custom ROMs, so if you want to keep your device up to date always update your firmware!
Do I need updating the Firmware If I'm MIUI official or custom ROM user?
No, MIUI ROMs contain the firmware-update package which I extract and provide here.
What are the supported devices?
All Snapdragon and MTK devices including China-only devices.

How to update the firmware?
1- Download the package you want to flash. IT MUST BE NAMED WITH THE SAME CODENAME OF YOUR DEVICE.
2- Flash it using TWRP or any custom recovery. There's no need to wipe/format anything before or after the installation.
How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.
