Wow thanks a lot! This actually worked or at least i didn't get any errors. And I don't know if it was because of updating the recovery or skipping the zip signature verification but the whole update took like a couple of seconds or so. Is it normal that the firmware update goes so fast? I can't find the firmware version in Arrow OS so I can't tell for sure if the firmware update actually went through or not

Yes it's pretty fast. A few lines with names of packages that been installed scrolling down while installing and that's it. Glad it finally worked 💪

Read the very first post here to see if you updated the fw:
How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.
Usually this info is changed after an fw update.

Yeah I forgot to mention. I've seen the first post and checked the Baseband but it doesn't say anything or at least I'm too dumb to understand it. But like @NeoPreacher said, the update process goes fast so it probably went through.
Thanks everyone for help 💪

Same here. I don't understand how to read it.
If I use this command on fastboot "fastboot getvar all", the baseband-version and version-bootloader outputs are empty.

I do appreciate your incredible service so much - thank you!

One question: is there any way to check which exact fw version is currently flashed in a device? I know that the baseband version (e. g.1-00270-NICOBAR_GEN_PACK-1.433714.1.435199.1) is a kind of a fingerprint for the fw flashed but how could one conclude from this or similar info the fw version?

The only way is to compare modem ver_info file if it exists inside non-hlos file in firmware package, otherwise by searching for that version string in firmware files, there is no easy way unfortunately.

    All Xiaomi custom ROMs users complain from a single problem, which is the firmware updates. As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release, and developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes, so releases are provided later. Here comes my solution:

    Xiaomi Firmware Updater (Redmi Note 8/8T)
    jSIVrRy.png
    Code:
    #include
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

    A set of various scripts that automatically generates Xiaomi firmware flashable zip files every MIUI new update!
    My scripts download MIUI official ROMs, both Developer and Stable, Global and China, extracts the firmware-update folder, generates firmware flashable zip with auto-written "updater-script", and uploads them automatically to many servers.
    The scripts are completely automated, running on a Linux server every six hours.

    Note:
    Names will be in the following manner:
    • fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGOGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Global firmware
    • fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGOINGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 India firmware
    • fw_ginkgo_miui_GINKGO_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 China firmware
    • fw_willow_miui_WILLOWGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T Global firmware
    • fw_willow_miui_WILLOWEEAGlobal_*.zip is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T EEA firmware

    Downloads
    You can get updates always from various mirrors available on the website:

    Frequently Asked Questions:
    What is Firmware? Is it a full ROM or OTA package?
    Firmware is not a ROM nor OTA Package, it's a set of low-level drivers that helps the operating system do whatever it wants to do. It includes various things like Modem, Bluetooth, Bootloader, DSP and etc.
    Why should I update the Firmware?
    Firmware is provided from Xiaomi directly, and there are no sources for it to let developers build and edit it on their own like custom ROMs, so if you want to keep your device up to date always update your firmware!
    Do I need updating the Firmware If I'm MIUI official or custom ROM user?
    No, MIUI ROMs contain the firmware-update package which I extract and provide here.
    What are the supported devices?
    All Snapdragon and MTK devices including China-only devices.
    Check the full devices list here
    How to update the firmware?
    1- Download the package you want to flash. IT MUST BE NAMED WITH THE SAME CODENAME OF YOUR DEVICE.
    2- Flash it using TWRP or any custom recovery. There's no need to wipe/format anything before or after the installation.
    How to check the updated firmware?
    Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.
