Thats what I am thinking. In the meantime I am using SSD boost and Speed up Swap apps from the play store and boy this phone is really fast.
Tbh I'm noticing a decrease in speed and idk what is happening... Using the BL tweak and Lspeed along with the su.d scripts from that other thread... And I tried installing xposed but after installing I noticed a decrease in performance and i uninstalled but some of theag stayed

Would you mind telling me what you are using now to make the phone even faster? And how you use?

I got rid of any L speed tweaks, and su scripts. I am only using the apps SSD Boost and Speed up swap linked below. Both require root and for Speed up Swap I set it to very fast. I have tested these for the past two days on a fresh and clean install of CRG2 and have noticed a marked increase of speed and no lag. Also once a day I hit the optimize button on the device manager widget if i noticed it getting clogged down. So far my phone is almost as fast as my Pixel.

Thats the thing there is battery drain anyway with this eng root,,,its just the nature of it. But with these two apps I havent really noticed any more than usual. In fact, I can get into deep sleep better and longer. I used to get 3 to 4 percent battery drain on deep sleep per hour,, now I maybe get 1 or 2 percent an hour. Plus heat isnt really an issue for me anymore. Yeah it jumps up to 96 degrees or so when I run a good amount of videos or something intense but thats what it was anyway. I am sticking with this set up until I see something that is better.

You know, I've come to realize that we are rooting our device to try to fix the problems that come with rooting! The only things that I'm running root for on my device are apps to help the performance... What REALLY is there for use for our device with a locked bootloader for us to actually use root for?

Yeah I hear ya. I use root to allow Substratum to run easier so I dont have to use Andromeda or Sungstratum. I have thought about rooting just to set up the rom then theme it with my Translucent theme then unroot it and see how it performs. I know there will be increases but if there isnt a noticeable increase then I will keep root. I have just run root forever I have forgot how the phone operates without it LOL.

That's exactly what I use it for, having substratum run easier! There's really nothing else.. Xposed causes too many problems, i think i tried v4a once and it booted but it just didn't have any effects and there's really nothing else we can do

I've made v4a work with oreo succesfully. I will make a complete guide as soon as i can
but basically download and extract attached zip and copy .so files at system/
/lib/soundfx/
/lib64/soundfx/
/vendor/lib/soundfx/
/vendor/lib64/soundfx/
I got it working pasting it everywhere so i didnt bother which was actually the correct path

and open system/etc/audio_effects.conf/ and system/vendor/etc/audio_effects_common.conf and paste

under "libraries"
Code:
  v4a_fx {
	path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_jb_NEON.so
  }
#NECESSARY FOR XHIFI
        v4a_xhifi {
          path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_jb_X86.so
  }
under "effects"
Code:
 v4a_standard_fx {
	library v4a_fx
	uuid 41d3c987-e6cf-11e3-a88a-11aba5d5c51b
  }
#NECESSARY FOR XHIFI
        v4a_standard_xhifi {
          library v4a_xhifi
          uuid d92c3a90-3e26-11e2-a25f-0800200c9a66
        }
I've attached also my audio_effects.conf and audio_effects_common.conf so you can use them as a guide-to if you need. you may try overwriting it too if you want

I forgot I have to have the on-screen navbars so I can use my Amazed Navbars Substratum theme so I use Xposed to get the on-screen navbars working and turn off those annoying nav lights LOL. But I get your point it seems like we are chasing our tails.

I just hope by some miracle that someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader so we can get the full potential out of root!
