I wouldn't call myself a developer by any means and MODS, if this thread is in the wrong forum please delete or move.
When I upgraded to 1.04 EB Froyo version, I noticed that the GPS lock was a little slow. It reminded me of the old HD2 when I installed android on it. There was some great work done to write a GPS.conf file that speeds up the lock. Out of curiosity I dug up the thread on the HD2 android forum and gave it a try.
Some people are having some luck with Gingerbread as well.

The original FTP site these were hosted on has some uptime problems. Here are the latest V1.2 files for the USA here. See the original thread for an explanation for the regions. These files were setup to flash on the HD2. I wouldn't try flashing them to the G2x. Extract the gps.conf file and install by hand using Root Exporler. Change the owner, group and permissions to match the rest of the files in the folder. The gps.conf file goes in the system/etc folder
See the link above for an explanation on the regions

I've also made some files that will flash correctly to our G2x. I've tested the South West and it works. I'm running the Froyo version of EB 1.04, it should work on other versions but make a backup just in case. No need to mess with permissions or group or owners with this method. Just flash and go.

It does seem to speed up the gps lock. With a cold start, I was getting near instant lock after a few seconds, inside on a cloudy day.
I believe that the files is optimized for t-mobile networks but read the thread.
So passing along this tip. Let me know your results.
Thanks
