If you installed Xnote you don't a GPS fix. I would dirty flash Xnote again and see if that fixes your problem.
I went ahead and did this, and then I even did a clean install and I am still having the same problem. I was using maps and it still seems to grab my location every 10-20 seconds, updates where I am on the map, and then it starts floating off from the location.

I rooted and manually moved the files with Root Explorer and then verified the permissions matched the old files 100%. The GPS itself is working perfectly, however the icon is a different story.

On a fresh reboot, or after letting the phone sit for an hour or so, when I start up an app like Ingress, Waze, GPS test or Maps. The GPS finds me and gets a great lock, however the GPS icon is not there. If I let it go and ignore it, when I leave the app, the icon then turns on and will blink for the aprox time I had the app open, even if I shut GPS off. Or if I notice the icon is not there and open another GPS app, the icon then pops up and starts blinking.

The GPS works for what I need it to, so I don't really care, but was wondering if anyone else that did the file replacement (not a new Rom) has had this as well? It is just odd
I did it same as you and have same issue that GPS icon disappear sometimes even though GPS is working well. It seems like happening when GPS is just turned on before lunching app (but I am not sure). When the icon disappears, I turn GPS off and on again and then the the icon appears again and once it appers, it stays there.

I did a factory reset and the icon issue went away for about 24 hours. But just like the GPS issue, it returned after 24 hours after a factory reset. There is something very odd going on with the phone and AT&T. I'm just glad the GPS is working and I can ignore the stupid icon.

Incursor Rom works too for GPS .

I can finally 100% confirm that the GPS signal lost issues we have is software related.

The only workaround I have found for this is to

root your phone
install safestrap
install X Note

from the Android Development section. It's a ported international ROM which means it has all the GPS files from the International version.

***WARNING TO ALL USERS***
This thread is not a "Best ROM" thread and will NOT be treated like one! Possibly any ROM that's ported will fix the GPS issues, but this is currently the only one I have found that works. If you find another ROM that works please post here!

It was very annoying for me when the GPS keeps losing signal. My job relies on the GPS and I had so much trouble with my note 3. I felt like breaking my phone with the hammer, thankfully Incursor ROM saved me :D It's confirmed on my note 3 I use it everyday and traveled far places using it and no problem at all ( also I installed GPS status Tool) too. Good Luck guys!

I've sent complaint to FCC on issue of GPS. Several ppl have already on AT&T community forum. I'm glad root fixes issue but shouldn't have to so problem can be fixed and void warranty.

I had a problem with my note 3 not even seeing any satellites. Would just sit on 0/0 for 20 minutes facing open sky. I tried reloading everything manually with Odin and nothing changed. I finally went to an AT&T repair center and explained that I used Odin and what not and it was a no go. He said to me he wasn't surprised and had a idea. I'm really not sure what he did but he managed to get my gps working again and put me back to a stock mj5 system.
What he did tell me was that they don't use Odin or heimdall , but they had a reinstall that hasn't been released. Not sure what the hell he did all I know is it worked and I'm now connecting to 13-16 satellites just like my q10 does. My note never did that previously. 8 or 9 satellites tops

I have an ATT Note 3 whose GPS was a little buggy on ATT service. I switched over to T-Mobile and the GPS was a little buggier. I then set the correct APN numbers given to me by a TMob rep and it worked better but a tad buggier than it was on original ATT service.

I wanted WiFi calling, which can only be done with a TMOB phone, so I tried to see if installing the TMOB Note 3 Rom would work. Anyway, I can confirm that the GPS issue was nowhere near as bad as the original ATT Stock rom. Now the only issue I am having is with LTE signal :(

Just to confirm, even when I lost signal altogether the GPS worked. I was on ingress and the scanner was moving as best as I have ever seen it on this phone. I would have to say it was almost perfect.

Note 3 AT&T gps chip 1-4

I've tried flashing the gps fix over stock rom.... Didn't work. Tried it on fire note rom also.. No luck. Reloading a fresh install of Xnote right now.
I'm testing my signal on GPS status app and gps test app.

Ok both apps show no satellites. Let apps attempt to acquire sats for over 15 minutes.

I've tried x-note , firenote, and stock. GPS fix flashed in safestrap. Tested before and after. Will try manually replacing files next.

I'll update this post when I find a fix. If I find a fix.

This sucks!

I had an issue with my gps after about 6 months of using the note 3. I'm not sure what might of triggered it, but I experienced the issue for a couple of weeks. I went ahead and flashed the fix and I've had two days of problem free waze. The only issue I've noticed is when I close the gps, I still see a "searching for gps" in the notification panel. This requires a restart to clean up..

GPS resolved

I have the ATT Note 3 SM-N900A.

I had GPS issues on ATT service but it wasn't terrible. It was buggy but not terrible ("80-85% good"). I then went over to T-Mobile service and the issue were a lil more prevalent ("70-75% good"). It was annoying sometimes. Try taking a portal when you are at the spot and the scanner shows you are feet away, Ingress. :)

I was about to bite the bullet and on the path of selling the ATT Note 3 and buying a T-Mo Note 3. I also really wanted the Wi FI Calling so I almost did it until I flashed this rom --- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625946

The GPS has been working almost perfect for 2 days now. It went a lil buggy for 2-3 seconds at most 2x. That is fantastic compared to what I was going through before.

Side Note (No pun intended):
I was having a few issues with the LTE signal, seems that in Bay RIdge NY they have weak towers, and wanted to fix it instead of trading the phone in and buying a Tmo phone = hassle and a lot more $ spent.

I used the Modificatinator that they suggested on that page installing the TMo carrier and LTE has worked very well with the T-Mobile "fast" APN instead of the one that installs itself.

GPS issues seem to be a thing of the past and would say GPS issue resolved ("95%good") .

GPS working

Moved gaps fix files manually using root file explorer, did not fix gps. Still no lock whatsoever. Does not see any satellites at all. Using "GPS Status" and other apps. GPS seems to not even be powering on....

Contacted AT&T and they said they will check on any known GPS issues..... Came back and said AT&T is working on a fix and it is a known issue but brand new, refused to swap phone, and said they would call me back in 4 days to check back with me and resolve the issue. Huh!?

Tried factory reset from within android GUI, reboot, no satellites.
Tried unroot via kingo, reboot, no satellites, no luck.
Reroot then unrooted using superSU, reboot, no luck.
Tried to reroot and Kingo failed to root this time and no longer works since full unroot via superSU... Need to research this!

Finally cleared cache via stock recovery then factory reset via stock recovery. Completely expected hardware failure at this point. Didn't even check the satellites from GPS status app. Was trying to remove the custom logo system status icon on boot screen. Then I inadvertently clicked GPS status app and WTF???!!! I notice some dots on the screen and it's actually starting to acquire satellites! I'm not sure at what point it started working again.... But it seems after full unroot and factory reset via stock recovery.

Slowly adding all apps back testing gps in between, still working so far. And getting decent fast lock indoors with use wireless networks off (a-gps) off.

BUT I LOST ROOT AND CANT ROOT AGAIN VIA KINGO!!!! I'll try the other methods here and pray I don't trip Knox.

This is after having at&t repair center restore my phone (explained in my previous post)

This is inside my gym; solid steel and cement structure with 30ft+ ceilings.
Like I said in last post I'm not sure what they did but my gps never worked this good on my note 3

Got root back!
Had to do factory reset through stock recovery (not within android GUI ), I guess that's what fixed it.
Got root again installed safestrap, restored my x-note rom ( same one that had no gps signal ). Now gps performs flawlessly. Hmm....

I changed the gps files too and am having the same problem. After I close the app the "searching for gsp" and icon is flashing at the top of the screen. I have to restart the phone to get it to stop. I also noticed that if you restart the app with it "searching for gps" and the icon flashing that it will not lock on to the sat. I have found that if you turn the gps off before you turn the app off it will not do it. It also appears that I didnt have the problem as long as I didnt do anything that would have originally trigger the gps to turn off before changing the gps files (ie switching cell phone towers, plugging/unplugging). So I still think they are related.

Any thoughts or maybe someone on there and look at the files some more and find out what is the problem.

After further testing it does appear that with the "search for gps" flashing and reopening the app that I will get a sat lock but it seems that it takes a little longer.

Any thoughts drakeymcmb on what could be causing this problem. Im rooted on a stock rom with wanam exposed. When i manually replaced the files using Root Browser I turned on all the permissions (read, write, execute).

Perhaps you need to do a factory reset

Don't know how true this is, but would be nice to see it happen. On the AT&T forum, the AT&T person just posted: http://forums.att.com/t5/Android-Di...3-GPS-Issue/td-p/3824953/page/11#.UvxHhvnIUZy

Hello, everyone!

We’ve been working with Samsung to analyze the situation and identify a solution. A software update will be released soon that will address the issue and improve the customer experience. Thank you for your patience.

-Mariana
Would be nice to have a working GPS and a working GPS icon. On the flip side, I'll be they use this as an excuse the break root again.
