You know. Samsung truly needs to give these guys that fixed this a million or so bucks just for not having to get their own knuckle heads together to fix this. I flashed the zip fix and haven't had one issue since

Whoever fixed this should get it. Even if its att that does it and has people fix the phone issues. True its a form of outsourcing but if your hired crew isnt doing it right then it is what it is

I really do not know what problem my phone is having with the GPS. I rooted a few weeks ago because I was having the lost signal. I tried multiple JB roms and recently flashed the new KK X Note rom. After all of these flashes and factory resets I keep having the same problem. My GPS says its locked, but in maps my location is constantly floating off from where I am and it updates my location about every 10 seconds or so. Does anyone have any input on this issue? I'm thinking I just have a hardware issue.

Have you tried calibrating your compass and gyroscopes using a program like GPS Status?

I already posted a fix for this issue a few days ago. Here is some feedback that I got. And here is the dl link.

I rooted my phone using evilpotatoman method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2559715. After rooting I replaced the six gps files, installed xposed with some modules, safestrape, and backed everything up. After a couple of days and me not messing with the phone constantly, I noticed that there was a battery drain of about 2.0% per hour with the phone sitting over night. I downloaded the BBS program and uploaded the logs to the BBS and was told I had a lot of stuff running in the back groud and to remove avast anti virues because it was a battery hog. Then I decided to install xnote 7. It ran perfect. The gps worked great and there was no battery drain even with avast installed and running. I was getting 0.3 to 0.5% battery drain during the night. However the group/text messaging was working really slow on my microcell at home. The messaging worked fine on the stock rom so I decided to install Dynamic 1.3 which is based on the MJ5 rom instead of the international one. The Dynamic 1.3 worked fine for a day but than the GPS issues came back. At this point I replaced the six gps files and the GPS started to work again. However that is when the battery drain started again. Before I replaced the gps files I was getting a battery drain of 0.4% per hour and after I replaced/changed the gps files the battery drain increaed to 2.0% per hour. The only thing that I replaced/changed was the six gps files.

Has anybody seen this happen or know of anyway to fix the battery drain.

Thanks

Yes I have. It still seems to be doing the same thing. I am also connecting to 9+ satellites so my connection in that sense seems fine.
Try re-calibrating the compass again. I find the compass gets out of whack and must be re-calibrated constantly, otherwise the poles flip/freeze causing the bouncing around of your GPS icon. I can connect consistently to 12-19 satellites, but if my compass isn't calibrated, my GPS will still bounce around even when locked.

Thanks! I will give this another couple of tries when I can get outside later. I would rather try it with nothing blocking the signal, and it it currently -21 degrees here.

Detailed Instructions

I can finally 100% confirm that the GPS signal lost issues we have is software related.

The only workaround I have found for this is to

root your phone
install safestrap
install X Note

from the Android Development section. It's a ported international ROM which means it has all the GPS files from the International version.

***WARNING TO ALL USERS***
This thread is not a "Best ROM" thread and will NOT be treated like one! Possibly any ROM that's ported will fix the GPS issues, but this is currently the only one I have found that works. If you find another ROM that works please post here!

UPDATE: I wanted to add that if you have a AT&T ROM installed, Drakeymcmb has a fix here I'm quoting.

Hi There
Can you please provide step-by-step instructions on how to do this? This is my first time to do this. I rooted my device but that is as far as I got.

root your phone
install safestrap
install X Note

I also have the SM-9005N

Thanks,
