Here are the locations they go in:
Code:
/system/etc/gps.conf
/system/lib/libloc_adapter.so
/system/lib/libloc_api_v02.so
/system/lib/libloc_eng.so
/system/lib/hw/gps.default.so
/system/lib/hw/gps.goldfish.so
Thank you for posting the files. Will this work with other Note 3 variants too?
I have a friend that has the same GPS problem with T-Mobile version. I want to help him, but I don't want to brick his SM-n900T Note 3 :D

Those are the AT&T files that are broken and kill the GPS. I would not recommend using them on a non-AT&T phone, and only if you are on the stock JB and upgrading to the stock KK

Thanks so much for the fix. I didn't expect it to be as easy as replacing 6 files but I must say, it worked flawlessly. I was beginning to regret switching over from the iPhone while my friend's GPS doesn't lose signal once on their Apple devices making this 'flagship' beast of a phone look inferior due to this constant "GPS signal lost". I'm just glad it wasn't a hardware issue and, not surprisingly, a result of AT&T's inability to deliver a well functioning phone.

note 3 kk canadian

If this helps you I would appreciate it if you hit the "Thanks" button on this post.

I can finally 100% confirm that the GPS signal lost issues we have is software related.

The best workaround I have found for this is to:

Root your phone using Kingo or whatever root method you prefer
install KNOXRAID

@drakeymcmb made this ROM, so you know it's going to work.

***WARNING TO ALL USERS***
This thread is not a "Best ROM" thread and will NOT be treated like one! Possibly any ROM that's "rigged" will fix the GPS issues, but this is currently the only one I have found that works right every time.

UPDATE: I wanted to add that if you have a AT&T ROM installed (may work on other ROMs, but definitely ask drakeymcmb before trying anything with a different ROM), Drakeymcmb has a fix here I'm quoting.

I am on Note 3 kk Canadian stock. Can I apply these steps because now after kk I am having this issue. GPS is not locking at all. Appreciate your reply!

Does this cause battery drain...
Those files are the stock files, so it should not cause any extra drain. Those files should only be used if you want to return to stock so you can upgrade to kitkat.

If you are asking about the fix in general, I did not notice any extra drain. But I upgraded to kit kat and have not had any issues

This fix doesn't work for me. Neither does flashing x-note 7. I've tried multiple different ways of trying to get this freakin gps working to no avail.

First attempt was to back up said files, copy into the correct directory, set permissions and reboot. No luck.

Second attempt was almost exactly the same except for clearing dalvik and cache and rebooting. Nope.

Third attempt was factory reset, install x note 7, reboot. Nada.

Fourth attempt was factory reset, install x note 7, wipe dalvik & cache, and reboot. Nothing.

Fifth attempt I was irritated at crap so I formatted the entire phone, deleted all partitions and odin'd back to mj5, repeated the first attempt with no results. Gps is still crap.

When I run any gps test program, it shows the gps as on but not seeing any satellites. Putting it in airplane mode doesn't help. I've checked the pins inside the phone for a incorrectly bent one and they are, or at least seem to me, perfectly fine.

I bought this giant turd outright from best buy to replace a note 2 that was fubar due to tannerite, and I bought it back in february so I'm a tad outside my return window.

Also, this is a N900A/T#4-1 designation.

And yes, I have used the search function, relentlessly.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Just wanted to share my experience with the compass. My AT&T Note3 has no problems with GPS, but the compass sometimes go crazy. I went to AT&T device support center and tested their new-replacement devices, and it was even worse.

Wiping with clean ROM, and also trying factory reset did nothing. Unless I have magnetic field coming out from my finger, I think this is a hardware problem.

I just applied this fix to my N3 and it seems to work wonderfully! I was able to get a GPS lock indoors nearly instantly. Great improvement! One stupid question for you. My wife is having the same issues with her note 3 but refuses to root (says I have too many issues on mine and thinks it's all because of root and not my incessant tinkering) Is it possible to root, apply this fix, then unroot the phone to return it to a stock state?

You can just root, flash or replace the gps fix, then you can unroot from supersu. Or you can leave the root and hide the supersu app. She won't even know the difference unless she look for the supersu app. Of Cuz change the setting in supersu to never ask the permission so she won't see the pop up windows.

I took my phone to an att device support center after trying the gps fix, flashing xnote, and updating to the latest ota, all of which didnt work. All they did was reset my phone, flash the latest firmware, and give me a new sim card. Voila, the gps works. I gave them a hardy "what the ****, over?", gave them a nod of thanks and left.
