UPDATE TO MY LAST POST:
Despite my previous glowing post, I've been experiencing GPS issues once again with the constant "signal lost" when using Waze, Google Maps, etc.

However, I found a solution that I think works just as good if not better than the proposed replacing of the few files (or perhaps it works best in addition to it, though I cannot say since I didn't download this app prior to replacing those files.)

The app is called "GPS Status & Toolbox" (huge props to them, developer is MobiWIA). Download that, and follow the instructions to reset and download A-GPS data and now, at least for me, the GPS should work flawlessly. No disconnects so far though I will update if I do start to experience problems. The GPS now takes very minimal time to lock on whereas before I'd had to restart the app to get location services to lock on.

Hope this helps.

I'm on jb ... new att sim card ??? gps sucks

tupirujp ... unrootable note ?
try resetting GPS with GPS Status program. I did mine yesterday, today works fine again. It's a temporary solution, but seems to work for some time. I also rebooted my phone, maybe that resets something as well, so you may want to try reboot first see if that helps.

does it really work?

Just chatted with Samsung rep who uses Note 3 on AT&T kitkat - the issue is still there. So it seems like kitkat doesn't fix the issue. His sources say AT&T promisses fix end of the summer.

I'm afraid kitkat just rests the gps like gps status programs do, and then it works for a month or two.

Anyone?

It works flawlessly for me on KitKat. Not sure where that rep came up with that.

how long have you had KitKat?
did you do anything else to fix GPS other than KitKat?
the reason I ask is because when I reset GPS using GPS status programs my GPS is fixed for a couple months, and I suspect KitKat maybe reseting it as well
also I wonder if the KitKat fix affects some of the units but not all
Did AT&T officially say it's fixed?

Run GPS Status & Toolbox. Set it to redownload AGPS data if it's more than 1 day old. It takes mine about 20-30 seconds to get the first fix. After than it takes only a few seconds from when I turn GPS on to a fix. If it's off and I relocate a large distance, it takes just a little longer when I turn it on. (I've never tried it, but I suppose turning it off, then taking a flight across the country, then turning it on, without getting new AGPS data, would result in a long time to first fix, considering that the GPS would still be looking for satellites that should be visible where it was when you turned it off.

I think the issue most people are having is not with the time it takes to acquire satellites but with accuracy and freezing
unless the issues I just mentioned have to do with GPS loosing satellites for some reason
after I use those tools GPS seems to work for a couple months but I have only been in less than a hundred mile radius with this phone from the time I purchased it

I can't seem to get my phone to lock gps no matter what Rom I am on. I tried xnote7. Alliance. Tweaked. Firenote. It won't lock period no matter how long I let it sit. I tried the flashable gps fix.zip and tried gps fix and tools app. Nothing. Weird thing is that it was working a awhile ago but now isnt?

I've been having this issue since upgrading to KitKat on Note3 (Snapdragon) International Version.

I found an app today and fixed it.
App is TopNTP and you can find it in Playstore.
You need to have Root, of course.

Before it would take forever to lock the signal, and most of the time it wouldn't at all.
Now it takes from 5-10 seconds.
I'm on Stock ROM.

Take a look in the carrier IQ thread. There was talk there that removing or freezing the ciq bits improved GPS.

gps errors in russian???

I updated to kitkat a few weeks ago and so far have not had issues with gps Need to wait a little longer, since anytime I used gps status programs, my gps worked for weeks as well.

However, now I'm noticing something strange - when I get errors like gps can't locate satellites, they are in Russian language. I wonder if one of the gps programs I have on my phone can be causing this. I also have xposed modules and nova

Any thoughts?

I installed safestrap and flashed the zip file then wiped the cache and rebooted...got stuck at bootscreen and had to restore. So does this mean I should do this manually or will the same problem still arise?

Thanks
