Just got my brand new Sensation, excited like a child I opened the box a few hours ago, put it to recharge....and tried to restore my backups: alright here the touchscreen problems started :-/ and NOT only related to the unlock screen but generally the touchscreen of my unit is a mess...now I'm waiting to finish the first charge to disconnect it and try all the solutions proposed.....& I just pray that someone will work out cause I'm freekin out :-/

---------- Post added at 07:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:35 PM ----------

Ok...I unplugged it at 99% cause I was exploding and indeed must have been some sort of current leakage cause now the touchscreen seems pretty responsive...

This is no good news though to me, cause I bought on purpose the Gum Pro (its basically a larger battery) to be able to charge it on the go....but if I can't use it while charging...where's the point?! :-/

Will wait a couple of weeks to see if it goes away...in the mean while could you all PLEASE run this test: put your Sensation to charge and test the touchscreen response...in particular the issue show's up if you browse through your contacts this way:

1- Open "people"

2- Scroll down "quickly"

3- Hold suddenly ur finger on the screen WITHOUT a move: if you see the contacts micro-moving under ur finger...then u have my same issue!

This solved half of my problem, before I had a silicon case for protection and everything worked like a charm, then I got touchscreen problems. I put some aluminumfoil like discribed above.
Now without the silicon case it works perfect but with it´s still the same.
Is this because the rubber doesn´t conduct ? But then why did it work in the first place?
That's just one of the questions nobody has an answer to... :/

Pull the pin out and try doing those four steps I described (disscharge, battery pull, etc.). If the screen gets back to normal after a while you will be able to use and charge normally :)

Actually I was thinking to test it another couple of days and then to sell it. I'll surely try all your suggestions, & I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your efforts guys. I just can't understand, & I barely can accept to have a device that cost around 600€ with THAT kind of issues....

I always was and I still am an "HTC fan-boy" ...I still think that Android is the best choice for me as I always like to experiment and to try new stuff....but on one thing the damn Apple wins over and over again: if we forget the last death grip thing (ok..that was a big one...but be onest: it was the only one in ages too...) its products maybe limitated & overpriced...but they do their job damn well....!!

OK...maybe I'm just a little too frustrated and tomorrow will be a better day...we'll see.....

Anyway: I downloaded a touchscreen tester app, and definetely: I don't have ANY issue, even multi-touching with more than 2 fingers, when it's on its battery, but if I plug in the charger........heeeeeeeeeeeeey: you better stay off the guy cause it goes crazy!! I think I'll put a video on youtube tomorrow to let you see what I see....

& undoubtely, this will not be solved with a piece of alluminium or pulling out a pin: we're talking bout a current leakage don't know where that interfear with the touch screen module!!! :-/

Ok there is a news: the issue related to the current lekeage seemed to be caused by the usage of a non-htc charger adaptor. I bought this universal usb to ac adaptor from the Cellular Line series because I bought my Sensation in UK and didn't want to bring with me the UK to IT adaptor, which is pretty bulky. But I made a few experiment today and everything works MUCH better, though there is still a little lekeage even with its natural HTC adaptor. The issue completely vanish instead when I use the Gum Pro portable recharge battery which i mentioned before, so I guess this solve much of the problem for me. I'm gonna make a video in a while to let you see what I meant!

Makes sense... Thicker battery would mess up the grounding contact. Glad it works :D
Careful though... The pin might bend back. It did for me after a while :)

It's true, some phones act differently when charged with different chargers. For some though, mine included, it makes no difference...
Did you try any of the fixes I posted? Any changes?
Yes! i sold it yesterday and went back to my DHD.
Problem solved! :)

I think there already are videos of the problem on Youtube... You can take a look at them and see if you have the same issue :)
No, all the video I saw were related to the "unresponsiveness" of the touch screen...my problem is not exactly the unresponsivness, but the instability of the touchscreen while in charge..!!

It's definetely a current lekeage, and it's shawn pretty well from the touch test app I downloaded from the market: everything work smoothly when the device is on its battery, but when I plug the charger in...it goes crazy: holding ur finger on a steady point, like holding a button, it's rather impossible as the touchscreen keep thinking ur jumping from a place to another...

I just have to figure out how to hold the camera in the right position to make this video and shaw you all the problem...

It could still be related to the pin. Just try the fix, it takes about 30 seconds to do it :)

If not... Swap the phone... HTC seems eager enough to replace them :\

Electrically conductive paint will do this sort of job well and is safer and easier to use than a soldering iron.

Also, on my Sensation, i managed to slightly improve the 3g and the wi-fi reception by CAREFULLY using a micro screwdriver to GENTLY bend out the gold pins on the phone body and on the battery cover so they make a better contact. I also cleaned them with Isopropyl alchahol and got a suprising amount of black crud off the pins.

I have to say i have had no problems with the touchscreen responsiveness, tho it is currently in for repair for a fan shaped spray of dust particles under the screen which was getting worse by the week.

I do not have any of the mentioned issues. However, it is nice to see people put effort into helping the community. So I just stopped by to use the thanks button on the OP and a couple of others ;) Have an awesome day, guys.

HTC shud celebrate the whole existence of XDA forum. There have been so many fixes on almost all the device ever released by HTC. And let me say to HTC, this is why other manufacturers are still scoring ahead of you. Because you make the mistake of releasing your products in a hurry and do not give enough time to THOROUGHLY test your products.

IF ever HTC decides to sue, we shud all go on a mass parade on the internet to show what XDA has done to fix their faults.

And M$ dont be too soon to smile, cos XDA has made ppl put with your blunder mobile OS for years by giving more glamour and appeal to the OS.
