Try to uninstall driver in device manager. Also try a different USB port

Also try different cables. Oddly enough all phones don't recognize all cables the same. Some can charge, but no proper data, some give data, but can't charge properly, etc. Yet on other phones, works fine. I don't understand that, but I have two cables here that act that way.Alpineman, you seemed to have a lot of great answers, so I was wondering if you had a solution to this. I'm on Windows 7 - although I tried a different pc with Windows 8 - same thing. I get "unknown USB device" I've downloaded drivers, talked to Samsung (what a waste), went into the device menu and tried to manually select the driver. The pc says the driver is installed and it also says that the best driver has been selected for your device, but it still has it listed as unknown with no access to the media files. Without the pc recognizing the phone, Kies doesn't work either. Do you know of any fix?
Thanks for any suggestions
Angel
Thanks Platin, I did try that, but no luck so far. Also try different cables. Oddly enough all phones don't recognize all cables the same. If that were the case, wouldn't it not charge? Charges and recognizes that something is plugged in, just not what. Searched other forums and found a few others with this problem but no solutions yet.Bad USB port on your phone?

Interesting. Anyway to fix it? Do they make a replacement part for that, or is it just not worth it?I had an S3 with bad USB port even if it charged fine. Computer couldn't detect phone.
