Thanks for a working link!
I'm still having trouble with unlocking the bootloader though... I'm on Lollipop 5.0.2 and obtained root via Kingroot. If I use adb to flash the aboot_5120.bin file I do see a message that something was written (not an error message), but if I then reboot and try to flash TWRP I get a 'Flash Failed' message. Does anybody have any thoughts how I could fix this?

edit:
Ah I fixed my own problem. But still with some help from Anghirrim, just not actively. I found a post from him on a French forum (can't post links yet so: forum.frandroid.com/topic/260934-tutorial-lg-g4c-h525n-bootloader-unlock-et-twrp/). Here he uses the same files, but doesn't flash the recovery with the TWRP app, but with Flashify. So I downloaded the Flashify apk, installed it and flashed the already downloaded TWRP image with it. That worked! I have no idea why the TWRP app couldn't do what the Flashify app could, but well... there it is. Now flashing LOS 14.1 which can be also found in one of the threads here. Hope it helps others who are stuck with the 'locked' bootloader as well!

edit2:
Hmm... now flashed the latest LOS 14.1 from pvineeth97 , but stuck in a bootloop and not able to get into recovery. Could get into download mode and into fastboot. Fastboot flashing didn't work, so went back and flashed the lollipop image I used before to downgrade. That did the trick and at least the phone is up and running again. Will try again later to see if can fix it.
Hi,

Before flashing LOS 14.1, did you flash the rootable stock LG MM rom? Your bootloop may be due to the Lollipop firmware.

I see! I did not think of that option. No I did not first flash the rootable stock LG MM since I wasn't interested in keeping the stock and wanted LOS 14.1 anyway. Since all my other attempts failed just as hard as the first one I documented here I will see if your suggestion works! I will post my findings here.

Definitely it should work. :D

And that it did! I'm really facepalming about how I could read over the little line in the LOS 14.1 thread stating that it can only be installed over the rootable MM rom... stupid me... :silly:
Thanks for that much needed nudge towards that key step and your tutorial on the French forum (my French is very rusty though... was difficult enough :p)!

@Smarthass Did you wipe data after installing LOS 14.1?

In this thread:
[TWRP FLASHABLE] Latest Stock MM ROM for G4c

It is said, that there are problems with the led and that the G4c will enter a bootloop when data is wiped.

To sum up, the process of rooting and flashing is clear to me, but it seems that there are some irregularities which can happen...
Yup, the LED problem is in the latest LOS 14.1 build. I fixed it by just flashing the older version. I for the moment miss the security patches, but I can live with that (version of the 3rd of April 2018). In that version, I don't have the problem with the LED being on constantly.

I then just followed the instructions from the LOS 14.1 Thread (forum.xda-developers.com/g4c/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3668489). So I didn't wipe the data from the rootable MM version. My personal problem was that I tried to flash LOS 14.1 over the old lollipop firmware and there my boot loop came from.

My post on page 10 of this thread tell you how I flashed TWRP (with the help of the website from Anghirrim). If you run in to trouble, let me know!

@Smarthass At the moment I'm downloading files from the above link. I'm wondering which one is the correct twrp? And where can I get the correct LGUP version for downgrading to lollipop. Sadly this first step already makes problems...

Installed LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23.msi in a virtual machine. Also installed LGUP_8916.dll by using the bat-file. After connecting G4c it say it will install drivers. After that phone can be connected. It seems that everything works, but the program LGUP doesn't start, there is no gui. I don't get it...

You can try either LGUp or LG Flash tool.

Windows 10 can have some conflict with LgUp sometimes. I do not recommend using a virtual machine as well. It could mess up the connection with the phone.

While for TWRP, just use the latest version.

The best you can do is join the Telegram discussion as Anghirrim suggested. There he provided some new links for several builds. But if you want I can also provide some things.

For instance, I didn't use the LGUP utility. I couldn't get it to work. I instead used the LG Flash Tool 2014, which also very nicely did the trick of downgrading to Lollipop. After that, I followed the instructions to root via kingroot and then use the aboot.bin file to patch the bootloader. Then use Flashify to flash TWRP (you can find the LG G4c one also on the TWRP website twrp.me/lg/lgg4c.html). Then flash the rootable MM stock rom and after that... then you can flash LOS 14.1 or anything else you want. That for me was how I managed. All the files you can get from @Anghirrim in the Telegram discussion. He is very helpful!
