Can you get into CWM?, Have you tried Adam's total wipe method?, what OS did you have when you bricked your device? What exactly have you done to it? We need more details in order to help you.

I can get into CWM. When I boot, it automatically brings me there, even with no SD. I don't remember putting anything on my internal storage, but I must have.

I was running a rooted nook tablet on 1.4.0 . I used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487 .

I was trying to run CM7, but I was told that I needed to use CWM to boot into it. I attempted to create a magic SD card to load CWM. I used this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21895025&postcount=14 . When I used the image flasher on my 32gb micro sd card, it moved the files, but it had also killed my card, as it now can only hold 70mb. I assumed my card was shot for another reason, so I did the same thing with my 4gb micro sd card. The same exact thing happened. the 4gb card now read 70mb.

You can imagine my frustration after basically throwing $50 out the window. I am now left with one 2gb micro sd card. I would have attempted Adam's Total wipe method, but it requires a 4gb card.

I see, ok first is not the it killed your sdcards if you check this post for prep a sdcard for CWM it reserves a partition of 50MB. All you have to do is get a program like EASEUS Partition Master and RESIZE the 70mb partition of both your sdcard completely to the very right (edge) of your sdcard.

Download SDFormatter for windows and format your 32GB sdcard with that and use it to install CM7 in there.
Keep your 4gb sdcard with CWM for the "emergencies".

So i guess you don't have CWM installed internally or you do?, is your device 8gb or 16gb model?

PS: This video explains how to resize a hard disk (a.k.a HDD) use the same "idea" but to resize your sdcard (make sure you are resizing your sdcard).

If you are not that techy let me know and i can give you a hand by remote controlling you. You will need to download teamviewer.

I think CWM is installed internally. I have a 16 gb model. I followed your instructions, and I resized my 32gb. I am not trying out Adam's total wipe.

*now. I am NOW trying.

Actually I have tried the total wipe, and it didn't work. Because my device automatically boots into CWM, it will not boot from the sd card. Any ideas? I think my best bet is to figure out how to ADB into the device. I don't even know where to start. Please help.

Alright listen I'll upload a video explaining how to setup ADB in a ubuntu virtual machine and how to run the commands to flash the partition images that might safe your device and maybe even how to install Ubuntu but that is basic and for sure there must be videos in YouTube explaining how to do it step by step.
I will test the images I made to see if they are working. Hopefully I can have something done today or I be releasing tomorrow for sure.

I'll do this because I see there is more people that are not able to unbrick their devices with the total wipe.

Thank you so much. I look forward to a link.
Just wanted to make a little update... i needed to test the images before anything and the images i had created did not work but made some research and i just created a new image of /system which correspond to the block mmcblk0p8 i added bs=4096 at the end of the dd code and that did the trick i also extracted the image "as-is" meaning no .img or whatever format at the end of the image so the images i created look like mmcblk0pX (where X is the number of each partition/block) similar to the ones celtic created but mines are for 16GB NT model.

Now i will create the rest of the images and upload them. After that i can focus in the video-tutorial.

:D

Yes it will work, sorry if I haven't posted anything yet the rendering of the video went wrong tried twice and same thing each time takes hours because is heavy and kinda bit large video but I once I have it done I'll create the thread. Images are already uploaded to minus.com

PS: please verify if you have adb access while in CWM and let me know

Just ran into the same issue. CM7 was working fine yesterday. This morning, wireless was down and wouldn't reactivate (through settings - kept saying turning off...). Rebooted, and it hung up with a blank screen. A couple of more times holding a power+N and it booted into CWM and now its just rebooting into CWM. I have CWM internal install, and it won't get past CWM to boot into CM7. I get the log cache error in CWM as well. Wipe / restore didn't work. Trying ADB now...

Edit: see Lavero.Burgos thread on rewriting the partitions w/ Video (previous post).

I got the NT working with the fix in post 1 of this thread, i.e. letting "parted" repair the errors in the partition. For the Noobs and people like out there who have forgotten all about ADB after initially rooting: to get ADB working / connected to your NT (while in CMW):

1. Download / extract the adb+USB drivers zip to its own directory on your PC
2. Connect the Nook to the computer via USB
3. In the Command Prompt on PC (Start Menu >> Run>> cmd) go to the directory and type "adb devices"
3a. Some basic commands for adb to work: "adb devices", "adb kill-server", "adb shell"
4. Make sure the Nook is showing up on the pc in ADB
5. type "adb shell", then follow the instructions on post 1.

Thanks for all the help.

OP says, "If it still doesn't work, run the parted command again then download Adams total wipe and run that."

Would you mind including a link to "Adams total wipe" as part of that sentence? Some of the other things you reference there DO have links to them. Thanks.

Hm. It seems I can't get it fix my "errors", and you said it needs to fix the errors in order for Adam's ubuntu wipe to work. Because it was trying to write to mlo, like mine. Errr. Hm. I'm out of ideas

It worked!
Used parted, then used AdamOutler's method for a Full Wipe through ubuntu. NT recovered into stock ROM, then rebooted to CWM, installed CM7 and boom! I'm back in business.

Donated to both of you, thanks a lot guys!!

Many people are getting what they are calling a bricked Nook tablet that won't boot or restore an OS. Often when they boot into CWM (from internal or SD) they get errors on screen, or possibly after an attempted install they show in the advanced / log

E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/command/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't open / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/last_log/
E:Can't open / cache/recovery/last_log/
failed to open/sys/class/android_usb/state: No such file or directory

This is actually an extremely common issue it seems. Basically its' quite likely you're partition map has some how been damaged.

Firstly just make sure you can't install an update or restore an old backup from SD, if that still fails and you end up straight back in CWM

All you need to do is download the parted binary HERE extract it from the archive and push it to your device or even just put it on an SD

ADB into your device and run the binary with the following command (you'll need it to be the accesible path or you can just be in the directory where it is)

parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 print

It will most likely show up with an error and ask if you want to fix it. Just say yes and let it do its' thing.

After it completes, reboot your device and see if you still get the same errors, Attempt to install CM7 once more.

If it still doesn't work, run the parted command again then download Adams total wipe and run that. It'll reset your device back to total stock. The parted command will repair the partition table and adamoutlers software will upload all the required software to the correct places for it all to work

Hope that helps!

If you get stuck feel free to give me a shout
Hello, Is there another link to the ntcm7 parted binary script ? The link here is not working Thank You Again

NT stuck in cwm, can't install cm7 from sdcard.

I need your help. I'm close to giving up and throwing my NT away if there's no way to have my issue fixed :( I'm not a technology savvy person, I just follow youtube videos for updates and even though I try to be patient with all the instructions around, I just couldn't because I am using a mac and most of the fixes are in windows :(

Anyway. I followed xda's instructions in updating to CM7. I encountered an error in CWM saying unable to mount sdcard android_secure. I didn't know what to do, so I went to different website as to how this fixed. I saw someone saying "format system" so I did. I rebooted the tablet, then I was back on the CWM screen again. Unfortunately, I tried numerous times to click "install zip from sdcard" and I couldn't find the file for the CM7 zip file so I chose "choose zip from sdcard". And that's where I'm stuck right now. I am using a MAC laptop, I tried to do the ubuntu thing but when i saw that i needed to install a .exe file, I stopped reading it. Is there a way to have my tablet fixed? I wasn't able to backup my files before I decided to restore to factory settings. please help!
