Quite surprised myself too that prices in HK are that high. Generally its the other way round. But i might do the same as you since i am based in China and will install the HK ROM if i decide to move away from IOS.
Well... OnePlus is Shenzhen product so bringing it to HK is actually exporting so it makes sense that way.
Same goes with xiomi...

Though the product is made in china but china prices have VAT / Taxes while HK has no such thing. I guess they have just priced according to respective living standards.

Makes you wonder how much are any phones really worth if they are making money with these prices :D

So true. Or it could be that in certain markets they are ok to lose money to gain market share. Anyway most phones dont have BOM above 250 usd. This is not including any R&D though.

Hi,
I have bought a Chinese version of the Oneplus 7t, and it comes with Hydrogen. I had looked at different guide that suggested that it was possible to load the Oxygen onto the phone in Root, and install Oxygen, but it gives me the following error: "The version of your selected packet is lower than that of the current system. To avoid booting up failure, downgrading is not allowed"

it's running: Hydrogen 10.0.4.HD65
I downloaded the latest version of Oxygen from Oneplus: OnePlus7T Oxygen OS 10.0.4 HD65AA

These were the steps I tried to follow, but got stuck at step 3. Hope anyone there can help me

1) One needs to download the official firmware from OP website
2) Put the downloaded file to the phone's storage
3) In the settings choose System Update->Parameters->Local Update->Select the transferred file ->Install
4) Reboot the phone
5) Success?

A problem that you guys are making is that you update the Hydrogen after getting it out of the box.
You have to switch to Oxygen straight away with a higher version than you have Hydrogen on.
Just wait for next higher Oxygen update and in the meanwhile don't update your Hydrogen OS.

Wondering if any of you have any time for a quick bit of advice in regards to the one plus 7T, as I am based in China, but can't deal without a googleless phone. It sounds very much like the Chinese hydrogen OS can easily switch to global oxygen OS (without ADB or fastboot etc) - so long as the Oxygen oS is of later development number than the hydrogen OS. correct?

Only thing to ensure is to not update the oneplus prior to switcheroo-ing - yes?

Appreciate any further feedback from any of you may be in a similar position.

Went as smooth as silk. I used this one: OnePlus7TOxygen_14.O.09_OTA_009_all_1912060105_3e6325

Says I am now on Oxygen 10.0.7.

Noice!

You need to install the 10.0.4 one, 10.0.3 doesn't work. Take the same steps as you would above.

Hello, if my phone is on H2Os 10.0.1 and I flash OxygenOS 10.3.2 using the built in "local upgrade", will I be able to keep my existing data and applications?
Thanks!

it came with v10.0.7 out of the box? you're not supposed to update it when you first boot it up if you're gonna flash it to Oxygen.

No, you will not. It counts as a complete system wipe.

ok - I seem to have encountered a problem.

New Phone for a friend was 7T - I think 10.07 hydrogen out of the box.

Went to put the Latest stable global software on it as per last time. Has been on boot up screen for over an hour... Just tried to turn off and on... WOn't even turn off.

Hmmmm. I didn't want to go the fast boot route etc... but this is not what I expected. Thoughts?

***EDIT: Oh wow that was a worry - ok - so after about two hours, I think it must have just stopped and reset itself, I happened to be holding it at that time trying to turn it off, but I had had absolutely no luck previous to that. Got it into the weird Chinese keyboard and recovery page (that's different) - at the reset page... and then just factory reset the whole thing. After completing formatting, it took another ten minutes to load back... to the Global Oxygen - (phew) and this time it did work. Wow.

I decided to redo the software update though, as I wasn't sure how good a reset it was, but it wouldn't let me??? oh well, factory reset again and it seems to be flying... but I did not expect the 2 and a half hour journey. I don't remember that from last time.
