Went as smooth as silk. I used this one: OnePlus7TOxygen_14.O.09_OTA_009_all_1912060105_3e6325

Says I am now on Oxygen 10.0.7.

Noice!
Hello. I got mine, Hydrogen 10.0.7HD65 out of the box. I have not updated the HOS firmware, never connected it to wifi. Everytime I do a local update and install the zip from official Oneplus page, I get the "Downgrading is not allowed" prompt. I guess the Oxygen zip file from the official page is lower than Hydrogen's out of the box? Do you have a higher Oxygen OS download link out there, or is there a simpler solution other than using TWRPs and other apps? Will the link you posted above flash over my current Hydrogen OS? I am no expert and I'm scared to death to brick this new phone that's supposed to be a surprise gift for my wife. Please help. Thank you!

Can you list what file you got from the OP website? Because most of the time after an update announced, the files had not been updated on web.

I downloaded the OP7T official OS from this link: https://www.oneplus.com/global/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574161738631
By the way, I downloaded another "higher" OOS (10.0.9) from an external site. My OP7T took it (without the error mentioned above), but went into soft brick state after rebooting. Stuck in a loading animation. My bootloader was not unlocked and now I'm still searching how to unlock the device.

I'm trying to understand the article on how to use MSM Unbrick Tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/how-to/op7t-unbrick-tool-to-restore-device-to-t3994835

But I'm quite struggling with the jargon and instructions coz I'm not the most Dev-savvy person.

ok - I seem to have encountered a problem.

New Phone for a friend was 7T - I think 10.07 hydrogen out of the box.

Went to put the Latest stable global software on it as per last time. Has been on boot up screen for over an hour... Just tried to turn off and on... WOn't even turn off.

Hmmmm. I didn't want to go the fast boot route etc... but this is not what I expected. Thoughts?

***EDIT: Oh wow that was a worry - ok - so after about two hours, I think it must have just stopped and reset itself, I happened to be holding it at that time trying to turn it off, but I had had absolutely no luck previous to that. Got it into the weird Chinese keyboard and recovery page (that's different) - at the reset page... and then just factory reset the whole thing. After completing formatting, it took another ten minutes to load back... to the Global Oxygen - (phew) and this time it did work. Wow.

I decided to redo the software update though, as I wasn't sure how good a reset it was, but it wouldn't let me??? oh well, factory reset again and it seems to be flying... but I did not expect the 2 and a half hour journey. I don't remember that from last time.

Hey bro. Mine (HD1900 china variant) came out of the box with 10.0.7 Hydrogen OS. I tried to download the official 10.0.7 rom from the OnePlus site, did the local update, of course I got the "downgrading is not allowed" error. I tried downloaded a 10.0.9 Global rom from somewhere here in XDA, to phone took it, but it went to soft brick after rebooting. I managed to unbrick the device by going to recovery mode and wiped everything.

You say yours worked by rebooting the phone again (but it took about 30 minutes)? Mine spent about 40 minutes the first time, I got scared and turned it off. I have not updated the Hydrogen OS from the box, BTW. It's never connected to wifi ever.

I did a remote session with a OnePlus rep this morning and was told that the official Oxygen roms downloaded from their site is not supposed to flash out Hydrogen roms. How true is this? You think re-doing the process would work this time? We were almost ready to flash the official Oxygen OS earlier (via MSM) but we could NOT get the phone to go to EDL mode. I really need to get this device on Oxygen OS before my wife's birthday next week, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks, man.

If I were You, I would try the Rollback package build from the Open Beta 1 thread on OnePlus forums. Those are builds for coming back from Open Beta to stable builds and they seem to override the "downgrading is not allowed" problem by having the build number set much higher. If that succeeds just reboot to recovery and wipe data & cache partitions, reboot to system and OTA upgrade to latest stable build.
Haven't tried that myself as my HD1900 came with the OOS already installed, but I believe this should work.

Locally updated my chinese OP7T(HD1900 from JD) to 10.0.11 Oxygen. But due to having bricked it first time I've learned to unlock bootloader (in adb) and have succeeded only then.
So now phone's unlocked and I can't use NFC in Gpay and so on. I'm not a very hardcore hacking enthusiast but have heard something about some Magisk app therefore one question is bugging me now. Is it more suitable (with less usage issues) for me to relock the bootloader or to try into Magisk and see if it can hide the unlocking from apps? And if I relock the bootloader - will it only wipe the data or will it brick my phone as HD1900's default OS was H2OS?

Sorry if I'm writing in not the best suitable thread, couldn't find "OP7T flashing general" one. If you know where I can address my question more appropriate, pls let me know. Thanks.

Relock bootloader is never recommended if you aren't stock. On Xiaomi it will definitely brick your device. Even if you have EEA on Global for example. With OnePlus devices I don't know.
