No unfortunately not, but a root exploit is being developed and should hopefully be ready in a few days. We can probably find a way once that happens

Mind if I ask if this is any closer to being finished? I'm considering getting a G8 as the G8S here in the UK just feels like too much of a compromise over the G8, and I have been dismissing the AT&T models but obviously if a way to flash updates manually with LGUP was available I may just get an AT&T model as they're cheaper.

Well, to use the exploit you'll need to be on Android 10. It's practically finished and @Inherent just needs some more donations to pay the guy who did it. He really put tons of work into it and solved all sorts of problems, and we definitely to pay the minimum amount we said :/ anyway, if you buy an unactivated at&t on Android 9 you won't be able to root and then update. In no scenario will you be able to cross flash; after bl unlock we can dump partitions of operator models and then flash them on phones of the same carrier.

Ahh okay that's great to hear, I've seen a few with Android 10 (although I believe most are on Pie still), so if I happen to see one with 10 that's also cheap I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

Will the updates via root just be flashing custom ROMs or will they still be stock? I heard AT&T update files aren't easy to find, although I may be wrong.

If you're in US and a Sprint customer, try to visit their location and ask them to reflash the firmware when they're open.

G8s flash

I already found the right dll.

Now I use the uppercut to open LGUP to flash The kdz file?

You can flash without "uppercut".

With LG Up 1.16 and this common DLL from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MQ7u7ghlNNzjAgVkCpCmswdtZjeB3l6p/view?usp=sharing (it's the same file in my attachment) i flashed my G8s to an older .Kdz version of Android 9. :)
You can find it also on this Site: https://www.mylgphones.com/download-lg-up-software

- Install LG Up 1.16

- Then install the .msi file from my attachment or from the link above and it automatically creates a folder in the default LG Up setup location with the LGUP_Common.dll: (Look at the pic in the attachement; btw. at my pc this "common" folder is a hidden folder).

- Then connect your LG G8s with your PC and then start LG Up.

- LG Up now recognize your G8s and then you can choose a .kdz file and flash it. :cowboy:

With LG Up 1.17 i did not try it. I don't know if it works too.

I am not in US. I am in Canada and obviously not Sprint customer. Is there any chance to read lg firmware from working phone ? I have all the professional tools

Unfortunately I have flashed Lineage OS badly on my LG G8s and it made a brick, it does not go beyond the logo (LG G8s ThinQ). It only turns on in EDL mode or Download mode (although here it is not recognized by my PC).

They help me? I would like to flash the KDZ but I can't find a way and I already have all the drivers installed.

    You need:

    LGUP 1.15 - LGup_cmd.exe
    LGUP DLL for G8
    LG USB Drivers
    LG G8 ThinQ latest firmware

You don't need to disable anything. Just disconnect battery, then plug in battery and you can connect in download like normal. You need to remove demo mode if you want to turn off device with buttons but if you disconnect battery, just reconnect battery and plug in with volume up and flash it.

Also this video for remove demo mode with passcode is only to remove demo mode from normal carrier devices (if your device has AT&T icons use this method and device will be good as new, only use my method if model number ends in V - G820V, G710V, etc...).

I did use Octopus to convert and flash it. I never tried with LGUP. If you have octopus I could share the converted file (*.oct format) but easy enough to do yourself.

On that G820V , did you have to disable retail mode before flashing G820UM310d_00_USC_US_OP_0731.kdz?

I prefer armed robbery. Just put on a mask, 2 minutes you are in , you are out. But truck/cargo hijacking is a good source too. Can pay a crackhead to just run out of the store with demo models. There are many ways to obtain them. Definitely not on $80 on eBay. These LG G8 demo models are too precious.

You have a demo mode device? Where did you get it from?

I was able to flash G820UM310d_00_USC_US_OP_0731.kdz firmware with Octopus. I flashed a demo model G820V and an AT&T G820UM. The G820UM completed flash successfully but now screen says "OPID Mismatched". The G820V flashed and actually boots into the home screen and changed model to G820UM (but of course no signal because demo model)

The AT&T G820UM, I still have download mode but no stock AT&T firmware to flash.

Can I cross flash with this process?
I've a LG G8 AT&T and I want to crossflash the Korean firmware.

As far as i know, there is no way to convert AT&T G8 model into Korean variants now.
