Note that a generic system image is not an AOSP rom, and can be installed on any device if the architecture is similar.
Often buggy, requiring Root+Magisk+Modules and without knowledge possibility of bricking (even with sometimes).
Example (to be translated).

That's not what I meant. I was talking about GSI. There's a difference between a GSI based ROM, and a non treble based image. A GSI or non GSI based images can be based on AOSP; pixel experience, etc. There's different ROM bases as well.

Thank you for the information though.

The GSI rom includes the AOSP.
The same GSI can be installed on Xiaomi, LG, Samsung, One Plus, etc, unlike an AOSP.

How can a GSI ROM include AOSP. AOSP is just a ROM base. This other issue is how can a AOSP GSI not be installed. This is not making sense. The link you sent is a really good informative article, and i bookmarked it. I think this issue is from using a translation service into English. I can understand a bit of Chinese though. I don't want to steer this conversation off the rails, I'm glad for you're link though.

I simplified by writing 'included'.
AOSP roms are developed for specific devices.
This means that the ROM not only includes a system image, but also includes a kernel and all the device specific blobs and libraries, and other hardware specific code, necessary to not only replace the stock firmware of a phone, but also have most components and features working.
GSI roms are designed to be used on any Android device.
