Flash .zip file (LineageOS) using Odin/Heimdall

Is there any way to flash a .zip file (ROM) without having to install a custom recovery?

No, not really.

If you patch your stock recovery to use fastboot commands, you can flash individual partitions, but if the ROM does not come in an .img format, you're out of luck.
