I dont think bundle blur on cm7, the best to do is use what can be used from 2.3 leak on cm7 to fix bugs and improve what can be improved.
For the leak, maybe a custom rom made of that, more like a barebones 2.3 would be sweeeet *hint hint* :p

after a week of testing, I will stop here.....so many bugs to solved for an leaked/semioficial build motorola! (green lens)
I think I'll give up at this point, too. Fritolays has mentioned that a BareBones 1.5.2 should be out later this week, so I'll be jumping ship back to BB at that point.

This ROM has been very interesting though. I have a UK T-Mobile Defy with a red-lense camera. For me everything on this ROM works apart from signal status bars and GPS. I used Baseband switcher to install UK bands and haven't seen any actual signal problems, but as has already been noted in this thread I just don't see any signal bars.

I tried both Walter79 and AngelDeath's GPS and A-GPS fixes but neither seemed to solve the GPS problem. Some times using GPS will reset the phone, some times it just never seems to pick up enough satellites for a location fix - but I haven't yet seen this ROM get a location fix via GPS at all.

Other than that this is a good, seemingly reliable and fast ROM. I de-blurred and installed Zeam which helped speed things up, and always got a 1600-1700 Quadrant score as well. I haven't de-odexed as I can't figure out how to do so!

So that's the end of my GB experiment for now. I guess I'll carry on using it as my main phone until BB 1.5.2 though :D

Edit: You know what, I spoke too soon. I've carried on playing with the GPS settings and now have it working. I've used the files from the GPS update posted by Walter79, but changed the /system/etc/gps.conf to my own. Now the phone no longer reboots, and finds 11 satellites almost immediately and locks onto 4 of them after about 30 seconds. Previously it'd see 4, but never lock, and often suddenly reboot.

The previous gps.conf files posted by Walter79 and AngelDeath contained extra entries for SUPL, C2K and in the case of AngelDeath's files many other settings as well. Perhaps one of these settings was causing my phone to reboot?

Anyway, now I use Walter79's files but with this gps.conf:

NTP_SERVER=0.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.uk.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=ntp1.ja.net
NTP_SERVER=ntp2.ja.net
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

And now no sudden reboots, but instead fast-lock GPS in GPS Test, GPS Status, and Googles Maps. Rich Location works immediately now too.

So, thanks Walter79 and AngelDeath for your base files - I now have working GPS, meaning the signal status bars are the only thing missing from this build.

Ah, great to see it working. But why did you change the EU gps.conf file and added the entries above? Because, in the UK 1.2 version of AngelDeath gps.conf you're entries are already used (except your 3rd and 4th entry), next to some extra ones. See attached UK gps.config.zip as example.

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me actually. I don't have a clue why GPS didn't work before with those extra settings ("CURRENT_CARRIER", "ACCURACY_THRES", "SUPL", and so on, such as those in your attachment), but once I trimmed those out and left only the NTP server settings and the XTRA server settings... Well, it all just works. And reliably, too. No crashes and very fast location fix, and I've been testing it all day.

It could well be that during my rushed hatchet job of de-blurring everything I hacked something out that I should have left alone. I should have paid more attention to what I removed, taken more time over it, and drank less Relentless in so doing. :p

Aha, so you just trimmed the file to these settings, in stead of adding them, and it works? You could also try the UK file I uploaded. I 'm still not sure the gps.conf file is actually used on the Defy, as I read somewhere on xda. It seems it somehow does.

Now, how's your gps accuracy in Google Maps f.e.? I notice my exact gps position sometimes 'wanders' and is 30-50m off, as reported by other users (on CM7 beta6 that is). I tried to increase/decrease the QOS_ACCURACY setting (default =50), but it doesn't have any influence. I assume, if poor satellite signals are filtered -by increasing this treshold- we might get a more stable gps position. But this might influence gps 1st-fix time in a negative way as well, although the number of satellites in my case is always 10/12 in good weather conditions.

Exactly that. The only contents of gps.conf are as in my post.

I get an accuracy of 4.6 metres according to GPS Test. That's with 10 visible satellites, 9 in use for lock. I get that lock within 10-15 seconds of turning on GPS and starting GPS Test now, too.

It this leaked ROM useful for helping Quarx work in any way???

I have changed a couple mail with a mod at the official moto forum. He told me that there is no plan to release gingerbread for the defy, and this one has been created to test and develop for the next defy. He can be wrong or right. if there will be a couple new leaks there is a chance, but now i am not as excited as i would be before Quarx appeared.
I use CM as my daily rom since a month. It is more stable than this GB and the feature list is complete, just a few hiccups remained to correct.
The UI are much more minimalistic in CM, someone likes it someone hates. I like clean and simple things better than fancy rotating animations and glass buttons. But i have to admit the new ui is attractive.
After testing MIUI I found that it is exactly what I was looking for. I liked its UI even better than the one of this leaked rom. I'm already using it but still waiting for the devs to incorporate the latest Quarx sourcecode, so that things like FM radio and 720p recording work!

Would you be willing to post a clean nandroid of your work? With the fact that you've deblurred and have everything working this would be great for us noobs...I love this rom but never have learned the whole changing of source code/pushing files thing to deblur the rom and mess with lib files.

Well, I'm flattered that you think it'd be worth using what I've done - but I'm afraid I went back to Barebones without making a backup of my Orange GB Beta. To be honest, there were too many bugs to make it worthwhile whereas everything in Barebones is totally reliable (and the battery lasts a bit longer, too).

Sorry, next time I'll remember to make a nandroid just in case! :cool:

No worries - thought most of the bugs were all worked out with exception to the green lens camera. Thanks anyways!

Hehe. Oh you mean *those* bugs. Yes, those were worked around. I re-introduced more bugs by over-slimming the ROM down. For example I couldn't create new calendar entries, and when I clicked on a contact in my address book the contact program just shut down rather than bringing up the contact's details, meaning you had to type out a phone number to call because the whole contacts directory was essentially broken.

The reason I went back to BB is mainly because of the bugs I created, not just the ones I fixed! :rolleyes:

Did you ever try installing new themes to give it more of the look you want? There are plenty out there. Including GingerBlur.

I think that Quarx's job of porting CM7 to Defy is absolutely amazing, but somehow I didn't feel confortable with CM7 itself. I wish it were possible to change menu colours etc, because I don't like its dark style and also of the other stock roms.

at working on this rom.

try to deblur but there are many problems.

deodex app and framework (some apks can't deodex)

removed a lot (very lot!) of apks, swapped launcher. device boot fine, phone working, can make and receive calls.

not work: setting (settings.apk can't deodex, and put .odex on sys/app)
not work: unable to add any account. i.e. if try to open market to go on "add account" it crash.

any suggestions? thanks :)

yes some apks can't deodex :confused:
