Which makes sense if this is a test for the next DEFY. They will have that red camera only I guess.

Why do you all think there will be more than one Gingerbread Build for the Defy? We wont get an Gingerbread update so why should motorola develop on this?

Well it's not an official statement from Moto, but one of their employees posted this on the supportforums

There are no plans to upgrade the DEFY past Android 2.2 (FroYo).

'MotoXpert' is not an indication of being an employee. And as stated it only indicates current intentions. Until I see "will remain on 2.2" on this page it is still a possibility.

Flashed My Defy..

How to install with red camera lense!

1. Flash full sbf via rsdlite or nandroid backup + fixed sbf (downgrade to Android 2.1)
2. Login to MotoBlur Account (need for working home button)
3. Root via Gingerbreak 1.20.apk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
4. Install 2ndInit via App (version 1.7) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
5. Update bootmenu via custom recovery (use attached zip)
6. full reboot
7. Install AGPS fix via custom recovery (use attached zip)
8. full reboot
9. set default boot to "normal" (need for working camera preview)

Camera only work with red lense!!!

Not fixed yet: No 3g/2g signal show in status bar. (Use status bar 2g 3g from market)


- SetVsel works only if you installed Milestoneoverclock
- for overclocking use the bootmenu

Flashed my 2.1 defy with the above steps .. and it works . Everything working except for signal bar - unfortunately the market applications for signal status also not working. Many of these applications have a note that it wont work in 2.3.3 due to a bug in google API !

Tested:
GPS - working
Camera - working ( no issues with preview )
Camcoder - working ( QVGA )
Wifi - working ( Was surprised to see adhoc wifi networks now showing up .. had been trying this in 2.1 before,now that works out of the box.. hurray!)
Adode flash 10.1 - working (tested with stock browser)
Gingerbreak - worked.

Some Apps tested:
Google Earth - working ( couldn't get to install on 2.1 ROM )
NFS - not working, crashes after the splash screen
ooVoo video - Installs, but says device not supported at start.
Gallery app isn't as smooth as before .. I will have to search for some alternative.

i'm afraid of something...
all GB builds are Orange's...afaik orange ships red lensed Defys. So maybe MB526 in red lensed Defy (orange's)

If anyone has this build installed, can you try if the bootloader can be unlocked with the "fastboot oem unlock" command? The atrix bootloader has been unlocked with this command on a2.3.3 build...
