Hey I have an extra G4 I'll let go extremely cheap, all I want is to get a g3 or even a g2 (used idc or something doesn't have to be LG) that has or had a bunch of development I can go back and play with all the good old roms. I really only care about Kit Kat, maybe earlier lollipop and down (not a fan of the new sh.t as far as custom roms go). I'm fairly new to flashing and only (had) an LG L70 which died, and now just a samdung exhibit & centura with very lil development. There's only a handful of roms for those and I want something loaded lol don't care if it's older. This g4 is on a debloated stock Rom with some v10 stuff and there's the KDZ of course. Condition is good minor ware (very few very light scratches that could possibly be buffed out) and there's some kinda extremely faint Mark at the bottom right of the screen the nav bar normally covers you can only see on a white full Bright screen. I have no clue what it is or how it got there but since it's there I'll take a huge cut to get something old-school. I have it through accident, my step dad borrowed it, thought he left it on top of his truck, thought it was lost and had it replaced. Almost 2 months later we were cleaning out his workroom and the damn thing was behind a tool cabinet lol worked fine. Anyway if it'll help in any development it would also help me catch up with modern times more??(please someone crack this God forsaken bootie??)

Shame you're in the states i have an xperia z2 laying about just back from the service center. Easy to customise screens immaculate just some small knocks on the corners on the frame.

I saw that, 3000 would be good motivation I would think, if I had the skill I'd pounce on it for sure. Such a shame cuz it's an awesome phone with huge potential, but leave it up to Verizon to f..k up a wet dream man. I know LG built it but big red always makes it even harder. Also removing those features like that is just ridiculous IMO but tiz wutitiz huh lol figured it was worth a shot huh

I think this is not really a carrier problem but only a problem with LG, LG is making this restriction.
For all the phones I have had before, it was the manufacturer decision to unlock the bootloader or not: Motorola Milestone (locked), HTC Desire HD (locked) Samsung Galaxy S III (unlocked), Samsung Galaxy S4 (unlocked).
Some manufacturers (HTC) would allow you to unlock the bootloader for free as a part of their dev program but you would lose the warranty and they would know who did it because the unlock process was IMEI based. Later on there were methods found to unlock it without going through HTC.
The Canadian Samsung SIII and S4 never had locked bootloaders just like TMobile but for ATT the bootloader was locked.
Why would a carrier have any interest to have the bootloader locked. It makes sense what that is a manufacturer decision.
The G4 sold in Canada (812), for all carriers has the bootloader locked.
If unlocking the bootloader would be a carrier decision, I think any carrier would see the potential sales increase stemming from only having it unlocked.
What would determine LG to do this selective lock/unlock decision, that's what I would like to know.

Since I just got my G4 and gave my G3 to my wife, I have a G2 available if you're still interested. PM me.

On another note. Anyone successfully backup and restore with Flashfire on a VS986?

New flashfire version can make fastboot flashable backups but bootloader unlocked is necessary...

Hello. please how did you accomplish this?. ...whenever u flash a zip with Flashfire, i dont see anything, even if the flash was successful.
This was a long time ago. It may need an earlier version of Flashfire for it to work but I'm not too sure. I'm on marshmallow now.

I wanna turn on the 60fps video capture on it!
the only LG i Root was the G2.

I would roll back if any givin information or useful link! if its possible ill look around.

Well I think the problem will be this, the app needs to be ran while android is running. If you are restoring the image and it is trying to replace system files it will probably crash at some point resulting in a boot loop. I haven't looked to see how this app works and maybe they have a way but I remember an app a few devs were working on to do the same and he was never able to get it working properly, it would just end up crashing and bootlooping/bricking. If they found a way around that this would be an incredible app!

You can try it out if you want but understand that you will probably softbrick. I highly recommend backing up your current system.img using the guide in the root method we have. That way you can put it in download mode and restore.
Yeah. You are right. Restoring made me an error in system partition resulting stuck in the Android Logo.

takes around 30 minutes to an hour. Keep waiting. I was scared too but it is working. Android is in a minimalistic state to be able to write to system. It will eventually show scrolling text then black again and once done it will reboot itself.
Dude, I love you, your comment gave me the courage to keep on waiting, I tried installing xposed the other day using flashfire and it soft bricked, wrong flashfire version perhaps? I was about to give up on Xposed but I felt so incomlete without it. Anyway, this time it was a complete success, I love this phone but Verizon makes everything so hard with the locked bootloader....

I love this community, thanks to all the devs and supporters that make this possible.

P.D: I created this account just for this :D

Consider TWRP-in-FIsH (TWRP for locked devices) ;)
