Flashing Different ROM for Pokemon Go Plus?

Hey guys, I have a very specific question that I was hoping someone here would know the answer to, and have some advice for.

I bought a Verizon Motorola E4 from Walmart for the sole purpose of being a secondary device to play Pokemon Go.

It actually plays quite well - very adequate performance, plus remarkable battery life.

However, there is one major problem, and that is the Bluetooth functionality seems to be completely broken.

Because of this, it's impossible to connect a Pokemon Go Plus to the phone.

I'm a new user, so I'm unable to post a link, but there are many threads about this on the official Lenovo forum.

If you Google "motorola e4 pokemon go plus", the top link should be one of them.

After many months, Lenovo has done absolutely nothing to address the issue.

So now I'm here to ask whether there might be any alternative options.

Would flashing a third party ROM potentially fix the Bluetooth issues?

Does anyone here play Pokemon Go on a Motorola E4 on a third party ROM?

Does anyone here play Pokemon Go on a Motorola E4 with a Pokemon Go Plus on a third party ROM?

Thanks in advance! :)

No custom ROMs for this pup (XT1767) as device/rom can not be rooted or unlocked.

Also, it looks like Pokemon go plus isn't just Bluetooth, it's BLE (Bluetooth low energy). Very different. Don't think this device is capable. It also doesn't have NFC.

This phone's Bluetooth is not broken at all, you're just trying to use a feature it doesn't have.

This was certainly interesting, as I knew nothing about BLE.

However, it seems like the Motorola E4 should have LE though?

It's listed on the gsmarena page on both the regular and USA versions.

I guess this would take me by surprise as even much older phones like a Samsung Note 2 is capable of pairing with a Pokemon Go Plus.

It has Bluetooth 4.0 which actually should be capable of BLE, so I may have been wrong. I know for sure it doesn't have NFC, so maybe the Pokemon go plus uses that as well as BLE.
Because the e4 has good Bluetooth function for everything I've thrown at it.
