Flickering along the left edge of the screen.

My Nook Color does this occasionally.

I used to reboot to stop the issue, and that worked.

But since learned that if I turn off the screen, and wipe the screen clean, when I turn the screen back on, the problem is gone.

This might sound strange, but it solves a similar problem on my Nook Color. Might solve the issue of a dirty screen on the TF 300 too.

If it works, please post. I'm curious if it's an Android / touchscreen issue beyond my device.

I've had this a couple of times since my TF300T got delivered from the US (I'm in Aus). I've narrowed the issue down to being related to the ASUS power saver setting. Once I switch the device to Balanced it goes away and after leaving it in Balanced I haven't seen the issue since.

Not sure if that is the same for other people as well? But that is just my personaly experience.

Same issue here, this is just becoming totally ridiculous, I can only blame Asus for it, this is their 2nd generation tegra 3 device, they had plenty of time to get it fixed. I don't even want to lookat tf20 1 forum, but we know there were some serious issues with the prime, specially just after it was released.
I have a list of small issues regarding this tablet. Will have to root it to install a reboot app, otherwise just have to keep shooting it down and restarting. This seems to temporary fix those issues. I just updated to latest firmware, still getting them. Hopefully asus will release a new firmware addressing those annoying problems.
My dock is coming today, will see how it goes.
the Tf101 was so much better in every aspect but performance , with so much less bugs and far more stable even with ICS, I regret putting my tf101 on ebay.

I've seen this also, rooted. It happened to me while viewing a picture in the gallery and double tapping to zoom in and out. I haven't been able to replicate it since it happened.

I should contribute to this thread by adding a +1 =P.. Am having the same problem here, flickering and a glitchy back button on the left side of the screen.. this happens both with the docking station and without.. there is no specific software tied to this problem (from my end).. It just happens randomly... But i'm more than sure that it's a software problem because I experienced the exakt same problem on my HTC One X.. I believe it's a ICS + Tegra 3 issue.. some kind of driver issue.. I didn't return my One X and waited patiently for an update from HTC.. And guess what! The update from HTC fixed the problem.. I did see a post on the transformer forum from a official ASUS dude which stated that it's a software issue and is being worked on by their engineers.. Soooo, am gonna keep this transformer and hope for an update soon!!

That's an interesting tidbit! Thanks for letting us know it is a cross device issue!

Yes, I've heard that too. But, not to be cynical, didn't ASUS initially claim that the Wifi and GPS issues on the Transformer Prime were caused by firmware as well?

And then they released all sorts of updates, before finally acknowledging that it was due to faulty hardware.

I suspect that tech support is generally told: "Tell them that the problem is firmware and it will be corrected in a future update, that will buy us time to figure out what the hell is really wrong!"

On an amusing note: I'm typing this on an ASUS G73S laptop that has a non-functional touchpad. Been that way since I got it. Have to use a mouse. Yup, definitely developing ASUSophobia.

Reviewers are starting to notice this problem:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/ASUS-Transformer-Pad-Has-Screen-Problems-268404.shtml

http://www.netbooknews.com/48567/asus-transformer-pad-300-tf300t-has-display-issues/

This is not very encouraging. Just how widespread is this issue? I think I'm starting to develop ASUSophobia.
Hmmm... I've never read reviews from those sources, but I get a mixed impression of them from those articles. I don't buy that most reviewers left the tablet in the dock for the whole review. Plus, even if that was the case, several people in this thread have said they got the flickering while the tablet was docked. Also, my TF300T had almost no flex when I pressed on the back of the unit; it was very solid, and I don't remember the action of pressing the logo causing any screen abnormalities. I also wasn't pressing the back of mine when the screen started flickering. It just kind of happened. It should be said, though, that I wasn't really trying to cause problems and stress the tablet. I only pressed and flexed the tablet a little to see if it was solid enough for my tastes.

Basically, I'm glad the problems are being discussed, but I'd prefer real, reliable information about the problems, not a couple people's hypotheses presented as fact.

I think the point was to establish how widespread the problem is. For example, we now know that it occurs on many of the tablets owned by XDA members. We know two reviewers have encountered the problem.

And there is an entire independent thread about the problem at another Forum.

http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/transformer-pad-300-general-discussion/21313-green-flickering-lines-along-left-edge-screen.html

I don't think anyone here is trying to present a hypothesis as fact. XDA members are usually relatively methodical about solving problems. It looks like we are in the data collecting phase. We are looking for the frequency of occurences and trying to establish a pattern.

Make sure you have not gone into Settings, Developer options and selected Force GPU Rendering "use 2d hardware acceleration in applications"

This will cause flickering and all kinds of other weird affects

I have tried the force GPU rendering... It's not on anymore.. But believe me when I say that it's not the GPU rendering that is the problem.. Because i've encountered the flickering with the Force GPU off.. There is something buggy with the brightness control.. I'm not exactly sure what it is.. "And no i don't have auto brightness-thingy on"..

Edit: Just wanted to say that my flickering can be described as if the brightness is adjusting somehow.. It''s like when u have auto-brightness on.. It kinda fades for a half of a second..
