My Nook Color does this occasionally.
I used to reboot to stop the issue, and that worked.
But since learned that if I turn off the screen, and wipe the screen clean, when I turn the screen back on, the problem is gone.
This might sound strange, but it solves a similar problem on my Nook Color. Might solve the issue of a dirty screen on the TF 300 too.
If it works, please post. I'm curious if it's an Android / touchscreen issue beyond my device.
