Are there any programs I can use to make use of the FM chip to monitor weather during this wonderful storm?
Good point...How about an app to let me listen to local FM stations for hurricane updates? Most weather stations broadcast waaay outside the basic FM-radio band.
Theres an app called Scanner Radio that ha weather radio and might have your local weather.Good point...How about an app to let me listen to local FM stations for hurricane updates?
I'm confused, why can't you just use the FM radio to listen to local FM stations? I mean the built-in radio in the music app?Good point...How about an app to let me listen to local FM stations for hurricane updates?
In the default music app you can hit menu and switch to speakers,The deal-killer for me would be that the radio uses headphone wires as an antenna. If you just want to pop the kickstand and listen or use it as background noise you're out of luck.
I'd say in hurricane situations there are better and more appropriate methods of getting information but my posts here are simply responses to the original question.
You are absolutely right but I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment. My emergency radio is dead, my backup emergency radio is a 1920's S/W set and the lantern battery it uses is probably 10 years old. I just want to be able to use my phones FM chip as a backup to the backup.I'd say in hurricane situations there are better and more appropriate methods of getting information but my posts here are simply responses to the original question.
