Foldersync filters assist

I have been trying to get this to work for three days now


Filter selected:

File name starts with

Entry:

/mnt/sdcard/ext_sd/Media/Ringtones/a


I just want to fill a folder with all the ringtones that are in this folder that start with letter "a"..
I have tried the following wildcards:
$
*
Nothing

Please help,I cannot fathom why this no worky
