Is there any way to fool the phone into believing that it's on a sprint device? I know this is an odd question but here's why - I got someone over on the sprint side to download an apk and I uploaded it to 4Shared:

http://www.4shared.com/file/pvBPY0li/blackboard.html

It's called Blackboard and many universities use it for online classes to post notes and general class info. The only problem is that it's a sprint only app, but the program is not a sprint program and thus the Sprint restriction is pointless and annoying. The app installs and runs, but when I select my school, it says that I'm not on a sprint device and thus it wont go any further...

So, is there any way to trick my phone into believing that it's actually on a sprint network instead of Verizon? What about with the root (of which I got)?

Sprint most likely is paying a fee to have access to the app which is why it is locked to Sprint service by the blackboard company.

Most likely something that could be hacked to get around it, but I don't think you should be posting a link to it. It shows up in the market place if you are using Sprint as a service.

I provide support for a Blackboard system. They have a dedicated Android app currently in Beta, and you should also be able to use your institution's Blackboard web site in the default Android browser.

Yeah, I've had Blackboard lurking around my Astro app-backup for over a year now. I'm sure they wanna sell it to end users who aren't covered by an institutional license, like they're license it to Sprint.

Part of my job is assisting in administering and supporting a Blackboard system. There's a beta Android client available that's quite good.

If your educational institution is accepted into the beta program, they'll have access to this application and will surely be looking for testers.

I dl'd Blackboard mobile learn from the market and found my school. It then tells me I'm not on a Sprint device. If there is another app to dl, please tell me where I can get it. Thanks

Being a beta tester would be awesome... my school uses blackboard for almost every class and would be very useful to me... Where can I sign up?

Blackboard Mobile Learn also has to have server-side support enabled by your educational institution.
