I have tried almost each nd every rom nd modem combination present out there.

Fastest, stable nd most battery friendly firmware till date (according to me) is

Rom- ZSJPJ
MODEM- DDJP6
KERNEL- Hardcore 12u 250hz. Don't apply any lagfix. Just apply the root.

For ppl who want to know my nerwork provider -I am on vodafone 2g network

And don't forget to wipe ur battery stats.

Wipe ur battery stats only once when ur phone's battery is almost discharged

Than again wipe ur baytery stats just once when ur battery is fully charged.

Sent from my GT-I9000 with ZSJPJ rom and DDJP6 modem with hardcore 12u 250 hz kernel on it (using XDA App)

Wow!! That's great. I stopped using custom Roms after 2.2.1. I will check it out. Thanks.

And it seems my thread should only be (for stock Roms)

Edit: i tried what u said. Had heating issues when on wifi (plugged in) with enabled 3 recommended tweaks available. And battery drain was more compared to what i mentioned above

Using this combo.

Battery is good but as aayyaanna i had a better battery life with Docs(2 nd half days)

But i feel GPS is not that good in This Combo. Darky's and Docs i acquired lock within a min (20s sec max) but with this combo it tkes more than a min

In my experience, resolving the battery life issue is not just a simple matter of flashing an appropriate modem. In fact I suspect that confirmation bias plays a big part when people claim better (or worse) battery life after flashing a certain modem. I guess we need some sort of double-blind testing for this -- but personally I don't think any of the stock ROMs are particularly bad in terms of battery life.

Anyways, I had posted about possible battery-related issues on the SGS some time back, which you guys might want to look into: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10030102&postcount=1428

hmm.. i'm not sure but mine was a European Version(same I9000)(got it from my bro from Paris.)
As i Mentioned now upto 12 hrs of Ontime and with around 15min of talking,20min of videos, and 2hrs of wifi, only 12% has drained..something like 1%/hr drain.

Once i switched on my phone 2day morning i just clear RAM.and auto task killer is also enabled.

I am on stock 2.3.3 JVK and loving the battery life....it lasts for almost three days with sparing usage...and around one and half days with heavy gaming and music.

i usually reduce the brightness to zero (manual) by using a brightness widget. and i use the phone in GSM only (no GSM/WCDMA auto) unless i want 3g speeds.

i am on Airtel 3g.

it will last a day/day and a half.

it all depends on how you use your phone. honestly, if we keep syncing mails, browse internet , listen to songs / watch movies , we shouldn't expect any phone to last throughout two days.

I have burned JVQ 2.3.4 but 3G is not fast as the indian rom.

If I wanted to burn only the Indian modem on existing JVQ what is the best and safe way to do it so that i dont have to reinstall apps?

BTW, phone is rooted with CF-Root.

TIA
