For those that have a XOOM in hand, what don't you like?

Title says it all, what doesn't live up to your expectations? We've seen in the reviews that the screen isn't viewable in daylight and the buttons get stuck. Have you experienced this? What else?
I picked mine up launch day. There have been a few fc's on some apps but it seems within the day those apps all had updates. I only have one complaint and that is the speaker. Put the tablet down and you muffle the sound. Hold it up and everyone else hears better than you. Turning it up all the way seems to barble the sound.

Oh yea this thing has stolen my life

Hmm seeing all your comments. I guess I will wait for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and then decide between Xoom and Tab 10.1. Hopefully, more Tablet- ready apps would feature in the market by then.
Just keep in mind that this is a thread with comments on what people do not like. Start a thread on what people do like and it would look rosier :) I do love my Xoom and I am sure many issues will be resolved with updates. Only the ones that are hardware related obviously cannot be updated. For example, I do not think my Xoom will become 1/2 pound lighter with an OTA update! lol... Most of the things I listed, I can live with for a while but the video thing, that is a big one in my opinion. Hoping that can be corrected with software.

Agreed. The video problems is starting to look like a deal breaker for me. I don't mind doing conversions, but everything I converted for my iPad (a significantly leas powerful device) stutters like crazy on the XOOM. I'm becoing concerned that this is a hardware problem with everything Tegra2, which would impact almost all the comng tablets. Reading up on the issue suggests that Tegra2 doesn't have the throughput for high profile x264 encoded video. This would mean it's not going to be fixed by a software update. I'm currently working with Handbrake to find some good conversion settings. Not fun and very disappointing. Still shocked Google and motorola would let a product out the door with weaker video capability than it's biggest rival which also happens to be a year old!

Wait for rockplayer to optimize it for tegra. Its not coded to utilize dual core yet. Nvidia needs to get us some updates.

I read the same with Tegra 2 and I hope there is a way to make it work. Hard to believe i can play every video I have on my Samsung Captivate phone and not on the Xoom. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Even if rockplayer optimizes itself like crazy, you will have to software decode hd videos. Good luck with that. Tegra 2 should be able to hardware decode videos flawlessly, and the fact it can't is absolutely absurd. Little companies like imagination technologies with their powervr sgx540 gpus power through hd video like champs, and have for a while now. I would expect the leading consumer gpu manufacturer in the country, Nvidia, to know what they are doing, but apparently not.

a few things put a damper on this purchase for me:

1. The screen is mediocre. It isn't awful, but it is not great either. I should note that I'm extremely picky about displays in general though. Mediocre black levels, seemingly sluggish response time (things look "shimmery" when scrolling"), and while it beats the ipad at pixel density, I still want more. At least the viewing angles are good (unlike my wife's ipod touch 4th gen) and there is no backlight leakage (unlike my droidx) and there is no pentile subpixel array (like my incredible and fascinate)

2. Video decoding issues, and speed in general. I'm not sure what I expected from tegra2, but it was more than this. If what everyone is saying is true and playing the hd content I already have isn't gonna work, then that is a HUGE disappointment for the xoom. That was a big deal for me. I'm hoping that once the guys at PLEX get it sorted out for the xoom I will be back in business. Many websites really seem to chug which is also kind of a big deal.

3. It is hefty and sharp! Wow those front edges really dig into your palms! Give me a lighter plastic tablet any day. I'm now looking forward to samsung's tab because of this.

Minor stuff:

4. crummy flimsy charger. Charges fast, but what a terrible little connector, and what a pain not to be able to charge by usb.

5. front camera horrible quality in preview mode. I was shocked later when i reviewed the stills i took from the front camera and they were actually ok. Why does it look so horrendous in the viewfinder?

All in all, i really like honeycomb. I'm really excited for what kind of apps we are going to get. But I'm getting the feeling that we aren't going to see many early adopters for the xoom, and that by the time we really get our software together, the second generation of tablets will blow this away. I'm not returning my xoom, but I am anticipating putting it up for sale as soon as we get an alternative.

Even though I am disgusted by this, I still have hope. I have seen crazier things happen with software. Although I am not a programmer, I am optimistic that someone will come up with a software solution to this problem and that person will make lots of $$ :)

The fact that honeycomb doesn't even see all the ram is a deal breaker. Sluggish browsing stinks as well as sluggiah overall performance and the fact that this keyboard is studdering as I type sucls the big one.

The browsing is actually quite fast for me for most of the sites I go to. I am pretty impressed actually. Typing a response on XDA forums is slow as crap though but on other forums, no issue at all. This is either an XDA problem that can be fixed or a browser issue that can be fixed with a software update. And it is not so bad I would call it a deal breaker. If you experience this with all other forums, you may have something wrong with your device.

I'm honestly stuck

I'm honestly stuck trying to figure out what to do with this thing. I love Touchdown for Exchange as optimized for tablets and it blows away anything I've used for mail, calendar and contacts short of full-blown Outlook. I really like the browser. The keyboard rocks and I like the form factor. The screen could be a tad better, but I can live with that, as it's really no worse or better than my iPad.

However, I travel for business like crazy, including four flights of 10+ hours each over the last three weeks. My computer acts as my DVR, recording my favorite programs, automatically converting through Handbrake and then uploading through Dropbox so I can have access anywhere. The fact that anything I play on here stutters and drops frames is ridiculous! I can't stress enough how much of an utter failure this is by Google, Motorola and Nvidia. I'm shocked this product was let out the door with such poor multimedia capability! Like I said, I'm having trouble deciding whether to stick with the XOOM or go back to my iPad while waiting for something better. My Epic 4G is a far better media device than the XOOM - UTTERLY PATHETIC! MOTOROLA ARE YOU LISTENING!

Yeah, that is the big failure for me as well. Very bad. And you will be even more pissed when you see the new Xoom commercials showing HD playback and saying the Xoom is everything a tablet should be.

Yeah, I've seen them. I only wish I had know of this failure before signing that Verizon contract at Best Buy. Now I'm seeing the LTE upgrade is imminent, as Motorola and Verizon have already posted instructions on how to get it done, which makes this decision even harder! LTE with the web capabilities will be amazing, but the damn video!

I just hope that people continue to stay vocal about this. As I said before, I am optimistic that a solution will be found but people need to stay vocal about it. The press needs to report about it which I have not seen. But I suspect it will take people returning the devices and lack of sales for anything to get done. Whatever it takes, stay vocal and report to your friends in the press.

oh and does it bug anyone else that apps don't show as "installed" when browsing the market until you click on them? This must be an oversight.

If you are converting them anyway, try converting them to baseline profile 720p. The file might be massive, but the xoom should play it.

https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?t=20140&p=92924

That is discussing the g-tablet, which uses the same Tegra 2.

Basically you are going to have to create some profile that encodes with weird and specific parameters that the Tegra 2 can decode.

I love this thing, have to complain about the accelerometer though in that it is calibrated wrong for most apps hyper jump was one that was messed up. I read that this is something simple the app developer can fix though.
